Recently when i was bidding on an item in the GuruAuctions i seemed to be outbid the second i bid every single time.

EDIT: Deleted out speculation that is untrue about another member. Just because a user does not understand how a system works give no one the right to issue a "caution" on an upstanding member that is without merit and unfounded. There is a help section on Proxy Bidding in the auction that you will want to read.

You might want to read up more on the automatic bid feature. You can set a bid limit and the auction system will bid for you while you are signed off.

The auction lets you put in a maximum amount that you'll bid. And then will raise the bid up to that maximum amount automatically as needed.

Also a bad idea to post the name of another user without that user's permission.

Looks ok to me. See the bid increments? He has a higher bid than you and the auction house is stepping up his bid to match yours.

I do believe this is a result of the automatic bid system, in which you enter your current bid followed by your maximum bid. Since your bid was not higher than that bidder's maximum bid, it automatically raised their bid to be higher than yours.

How did you miss the innovation named eBay?

It’s not an auction bot. It’s called proxy bidding which is a built in feature and standard, Ebay has the same thing. A buyer can put in a maximum amount that they want to bid. If an auction starts out at 10,000 Gold and you are willing to go up to 50,000 Gold you can put 50,000 Gold in and the auction site automatically bids at the next increment. So if the bidding increment is 1,000 Gold it would bid at 11,000. If another user comes along and bids on the item for 15,000… it would up the original buyer’s amount to 16,000. This is a standard feature on Ebay as well. It allows a buyer to get the item for the least amount possible and allows the site to “bid in your place” while you are not there.

To get the item you will need to bid over the other user’s maximum amount. Only way to know that is to outbid him. If his high bid is 50,000 and you put in 60,000 Gold then you would have the next proxy bid as your bid would start out at 51,000 Gold and then increment up if another buyer came along.
