Hi all. I just started playing gw. I spent the first few days trying different RA builds before i finally started settling in and figuring out what was going on and i'm finally able to win fairly consistantly.
I've gotten to the point where i feel decent enough about my understanding of what is going on in pvp and i'm now looking for ways to improve my pvp.
(assume i have all inscriptions/skills i want unlocked already or am capable of doing so)
My question more pertains to Pve though.
1) Is it a good idea to grind for gear in pve for pvp?
2) is there any benefit besides looks/asthetics to using pve gear?
3) If I skip pve 100%, does that hinder me in any way for pvp? (assume skill/item unlocks not a concern)
4) Assuming there is no benefit besides cosmetic, what kind of time investment am i considering to level and farm for drops? Are inscriptions something you can place on an item or must i farm diablo-style repeatedly to get the item/stat combination i want?
5) Is there a website/resource that breaks down commonly sought after items that i may want to chase?
6) If i use lets say a warrior for pve, can i obtain elementalist items and then use them on a pvp elementalist? how does that transition work? Or must i expect to only use items for the class i am playing right that moment?
I'm not a fan of the play style of pve in gw, but there are a few reasons why i would go ahead and do it. Right now i'm primarily running a mind blast build (E/D), but i'm not sure i like the idea of grinding pve with an E.
newbie question about advancing

Not New

5)yes this website
6)yes....account wide storage....
( there is no "grinding" in GW)

1) Makes no differance

4) If your only interested in PvP, and you said item unlocks are not a concern, there is no reason to farm in PvE at all. Just for cosmetics, you would have to farm gold, how much depends on what armor/items you want. Inscriptions can be removed from any item and placed on any matching item type.
5) No idea, I don't concern myself with that sort of thing.
6) You can use any class, any item you get as a drop for another class you can put in your storage, and any other toon on your account, PvP or PvE can then access it.
If your not a fan of the PvP play style, you could have just purchased the PvP unlock packs and avoided the whole thing.

Gear isn't an issue in PVP, you can make anything you need by choosing pvp equipment above your head in the inventory pane.
You can still buy the PVP unlock packs to unlock all the skills and pvp items, and it's a much better way than trying to use B-faction or grinding PVE to unlock.
