Halloween and Wintersday hats now
Ramei Arashi
If Halloween and Wintersday going to be like Dragon Festival, no new hats but chance to get older hats, I hope we're allowed 2 hats each festival because you could in past years always get both hats by just doing finale twice.
MithranArkanere
The first year had just 1 hat.
But in any case, they'll probably let either just 1 hat, or maybe one quest in Lion's Arch, and another quest in Kamadan.

Ooh. I really want the pumpkin hats from early Halloweens...
MagnumShadow
If they allow one hat per city, since Halloween and Wintersday had different hats in LA and Kamadan, I'll get the 2006 ones. Which include the pumpkin and snowman head.

So did i read it correctly, we are getting a new dragon mask for 2012?
( Edit: nevermind, it's a recycled post from 2011)

Mirthful Dragon Mask On the final day of the festival Emperor Kisu of Cantha will present participants with a brand new festival mask. This year's mask design is inspired by the great dragons of legend. Just collect 250 victory tokens during the festival and participate in one of the Emperor's finale events. Don't worry if you miss the finale, just speak with Imperial Supply Master Kagno after the festival. He'll remain in Shing Jea Monastery for one week after the festival ends to give players an opportunity to redeem 250 victory tokens for this year's brand new festival mask. |

Noblewoman Sun Li now appears in Shing Jea Monastery and grants one Imperial Mask Token to players who complete her quest.
Imperial Supply Master Kagno now exchanges Imperial Mask Tokens for festival masks from years past.
Emperor Kisu no longer distributes festival masks during the final event.
This needs further clarification.

That is what the offical Guildwars states yes new "Mirthful Dragon Mask". The confusion is in the post of the festival from the official wiki:

Hi,
We've clarified the changes to the Dragon Festival event webpage here:

Sorry about this oversight!

well, that clarifies the dragon festival, however, that was not the topic of the thread....what about the halloween and wintersday hats?
Quantum Duck
Didn't that get confirmed at some point by a dev at some point to be one token per festival per year? Or am I remembering wrong?
TSBasilisk
"That’s why players will be able to get hats from years prior, at the rate of one per year during each respective festival."
-Stephane Lo Presti, https://forum.guildwars.com/forum/fo...ge/1#post11864
This is, of course, subject to change when the events roll around. It will be especially interesting for the dual-hat Christmas years.

yeah clear as mud...which is why the whole thread was created and Stephane seemed to not answer.
guess 'we shall see' is the clearest answer we have right now?

too bad they aren't tradeable, I have every single hat from every event

So, thanks to those double click spam titles, my mouse is too sensitive, and i took the wrong hat not on purpose at all..
Not like i'm caring much, but for those kind of items untradable and available once/year, it would be fine to have a message like " Are you sure you want to take this item", like in every game for important items..

So should we take this as final confirmation that GW is pretty much done in terms of any new content in any form? Or is their a small shred of hope that after GW2 launches the live team can and will get back to working on events and small content updates?
As for the one hat per year per account, why do it that way? Does it really make that big a difference if you allow people to collect all of them at one time? Waiting an entire year just for a hat seems to be a bit much.

Star_Jewel
My question is whether the tokens are event-specific. If I don't want a Dragon Festival hat, could I save my hat token for Halloween and get 2 hats then (one with the token I earn during that event and one with the token I've saved from this event)?
Premium Unleaded
Imperial Token implies Factions-specific events imo, but there's been no information about this so far.
Daesu
Of course they would want to do that. If they allow everyone to collect all the hats at one time, then there would be almost no need for people to login and play during the festivals, especially if they are not interested in getting the cons titles anymore. Obviously, they want people to show up during festivals and make the GW1 lively at least until GW2 is out.
Fay Vert
The first (halloween) hat is the only one I don't have. I was playing GW then, but my character hadn't got to Lion's Arch at that stage. Still hoping.

It looks like it's going to be one mask per year/ per event.
But I see your reasoning. Since we bought the game, and we're "The Customer",
why should we have to play it too.
We should all be given any item in the game when ever we want it.
Since the game is so old anyway. I think we should all get max titles, and
all the elite armors and weapons placed in our new infinate inventory slots
too.

Too many times my posts have been taken wrong and I've taken others posts wrong. The emotional translation is lost in the typing and far too often we see the worst in what we read. I'm going to assume that the replies to my post are with the best intent and not attempts at trolling.
This is in reply to both Daesu and Hephaestus Ram
There's no new hat so showing up for the event is greatly minimized because Kisu is no longer a part of the hat distribution. If you have the points titles maxed then you may not have reason to log in at all. Is making players wait a year for an extra hat enough incentive?
This isn't an issue where I'm suggesting just handing over items to players to make things easier. The issue is that other then the one hat per account per year, the difficulty in acquiring the hat is zero. The quests are designed to give players a stack of tokens per character. Considering most players have a minimum 4 character slots, that means that players have the potential to earn 4-8 hats. The only thing stopping us from getting them all is the special token and the one year gap. We can use all of the tokens we want to acquire points for titles but the hats are off limits. This is my point.
Hopefully that clears things up and I won't get any more replies like I did.

the next holiday is halloween...that will be AFTER gw2 launches.
the token is for an IMPERIAL mask, so one would think that it would be one per festival--though the question still remains some of the festivals had multiple hats per year--if you missed one year you missed FOUR hats!
so back to the OP question of how they are going to handle the other holidays. (and yes if you turned in your imperial mask token will you be able to turn in another token this year or is that your ONE token for the whole year? --and then is it a year from when you turned in the token or calendar year???)

It's literally face-value here. This is just another implementation that tries to bait people into participating whilst having to expend zero effort on their part, even how it's been implemented is indicative of their attitude.
I'm genuinely surprised there are people who don't see that ANet no longer cares about anything of actual substance regarding this game, and it's clear that even content which would have been deemed a relatively frivolous waste of resources not all that long ago is now beyond putting any effort into.
I'm even more surprised that there are people who actually buy into the illusions hiding the fact.

I haven't tested this, but couldn't you do the quest with multiple characters? Ever since you can show the hat to a festival hat NPC, technically you could get a hat per character per event per year, no?
cosyfiep
no you can only do the quest from Sun Li with ONE character---so you can only get ONE token per account.
Markaedw
I even tried to get the quest on other characters and fulfilled the required token count. As soon as I collected the reward from one character, it counted as completed on all characters, the quest was removed from my quest window and she acted as if all of them had collected the reward. In addition, the tokens can neither be traded nor drooped. Now the alternate rewards bag can be traded.
