Summon Spirits

I am just picking up with GW after a very long break (2007).

I am trying to acquire Summon Spirits and wanted to make sure I am understanding how to get it correctly.

1. I have to have allegience rank 1(Luxon or Kurzick).
2. 3000 unspent faction points.

I was completing the factions campaign and accumulated 10k points for each faction along the way.

It wasn't a grind or anything but I now need to acquire 100k points to unlock allegience rank 1 in order get the Bureaucrat to teach me the skill!? That seems kind of excessive! Is my understanding correct?

To get allegiance rank 1 you only need to acquire 50,000 faction and donate it to your guild. Donating to the guild doubles the amount of rep you get credited for. So, you realy only need 43k more. This can be acquired by winning in jade quarry, winning in fort aspenwood, or vanquishing luxon areas in factions.

30/50 HoM is turning out to be much more of an investment that I was led to believe.

So joing a guild will allow me to donate points, allowing a quicker allegience rank 1 title?

Yup, and the HoM rewards are meant to be rewards for a good amount of time invested in the game. If anyone could come into the game, play guild wars for two months and have 30/50 then it would just be silly.

Is my understanding correct? That's not in the least excessive. I've easily managed over 100k/day and I'm sure many others have. MTSC gets you ~25k per run and is easy to do. Join a faction guild and they'll teach you. Other than that, JQ is good for easy faction.

If you consider the r5 req for eotn skills to be maxed, thats far more of a pain than getting to r1 lux/kurz.

I feel like a total noob for sure. I spend more time on wiki/guru than I do playing.

I think the problem is I am trying to put together a meta build without having the skills unlocked. I am spending more time attaining skills than progressing.

Thanks for all of the help. I will trudge my way towards 30/50. It isn't like I have anything better to do!

Instead of investing your faction in a guild, I suggest you spend it on luxon/kurzick skills instead. The return in title points is exactly the same, but your character actually benefits in this way. Also, be sure to avoid acquiring both types of faction at the same time, as whenever you spend one, the other is drained equally (ie if you spend 3000 kurzick faction, you also lose 3000 luxon faction for "betrayal"). Hope this helps!

I suppose 30/50 means you'll have to dabble into HM anyway... One full HM Shiro's Return storybook gives you 120k faction.

Like being said, 30/50 is not something to be done over night. so if it is doable for you depends on how far you already got and how good you are at the game. so my first advice is to be realistic in your goals. If you have trouble unlocking a meta build for your own I would rate your skills at this game( and at this moment!) poorly. you are what people would call a newbe (due to the long break). Hope your not offended, but I'm bringing it as I see it.

The guides on here and elsewhere are for people with atleast average skills in this game but are also meant to optimise for 30/50 or even 50/50.

Having said the unnice things, it is time for a more optimistic and realistic look at things. You have 49 days left till the release of gw2 so enough time to make the best of it. In the end it all depends on how much points you already have but without knowing that (and you might have done some of these already).

First of all start a new character in factions and take your time to relearn the game. (Given the fact your working on a rit I suspect you did so).

Second point is to enjoy yourself. GW2 HoM points are a reward, the goal however is having fun. I have played this game for a long time and I know the creators well enough that the rewards are very nice, but won't make the difference between win and loose in GW2. So enjoy yourself.

Third is hard mode in factions (you need to finish the campaign for that). If you didn't pick a guild yet do so and for reasons of speed I would say a luxon guild (though I am kurzick).

The reason for that is to get those points you need to get 100.000 title points (well actually 90.000, you already have 10k). When you have unlocked hard mode in factions you can vanguish (kill all foes in hardmode in an area) mount qinkai. It is a very easy vanguish wich rewards roughly 7500 luxon title points. you should be able to do it in less then 30 minutes with any kind of team (maybe longer at first but practise makes perfect). record times of this are even below 15 minutes (but that takes a lot of experience).

Having said that, and hearing the earlier advice that you can donate to the guild to get double points, you don't need a lot of those vanguishes to get to 50k. but STOP and consider the following.

You can donate, but when it comes to HoM points you could use the points to buy jadeite shards. you should get 20 of those for the 100.000 points. The reason im saying it is that if you don't stop there and continue to lets say 80 of them you can get yourself a set of luxon elite armor.(keep in mind vanguishing also rewards a lot of money so part of them can also be bought at the rare material trader, just remember to save for the armour it self too)

If you didn't had any elite armor set so far, this would result in 2 HoM points.

simple math shows that you need to do 2-3 mount qinkai vanguishes/day for it (so it would cost you bout 60-90 minutes/day leaving time to spare for other things). Among other things mean you could do all missions in both normal mode and hard mode in factions (for the hard ones you might want to keep your eyes out for the daily zaishen mission at the flagpost in embark beach, cause those days it is easy to find a team of players for it), it takes bout 30 minutes/mission, but in the end it rewards you with a total of 3 statues. but more important if you bring an nm book and a hm book of factions you get even more luxon title points. This means a 4th statue (550.000 luxon points grants you a statue).

Now another trick. Do this all without dying. this gives a 5th statue.
So with 2 hours/day you can get a total of 7/50 HoM points max (3 of those are rewarded on start.

You propably already have atleast 1 minipet to dedicate (8/50 points).
You can also be a rit/ranger and bring a pet during those vanguishes. I would recommend getting the imperial phoenix. getting it to lvl 20 means another 2 points (again if you didn't have any to start with) bringing the total to 10/50 points.

And keep in mind your only spending 2 hours/day yet. most people who work or go to school have 3-4 hours/day to play. So there is plenty of time to do other stuff as well.

To summorize. you might want to forget bout 30/50 (depending on how far you already are). But my advise would be to post a link to your own HoM page and to tell how many hours/day you can spent. I'm pretty sure myself and other can give you a good and realistic plan bout what is possible in the comming 49 days.

Sorry bout the long post, but I wanted to give you a good realistic perspective but also show you the possibility's.

Parameters for allegiance skills are:
level 20
r1+ lux/Kurz
3k unspent Lux/Kurz faction.
