Is EOTN dead, too?
Shrapnel360
I finished the Nightfall and Factions campaigns five or six years ago, and I'm trying to go back and finish the other two for Hall of Monuments before GW2 is released. I tried at Prophecies for a few hours, but I quit because all of the missions are dead; no one is there to do them with. And I don't want to play with henchmen, because I play MMOs to play with other people...I don't find playing with bots fun. Now, I haven't bought EOTN, yet, because I'm worried about this being the case with this campaign as well... is it? Can I play the campaign all the way through and have people to play with? How many people are playing through the EOTN campaign?
Thanks for your time.

Are you looking for 7 other people to do the mission with, or are you fine with the runner using 6 of his own heroes?

Another asking if its dead , mabe your time line is different from others plus just looking at guild wars recruitment there are over 16 guilds looking for players recently.
Yes it may be quiet as you could be a different timeline my suggestion is either try there as plenty to choose from.
Over the last week I have been playing an Alt and seen quite a few even in Embark Beach asking.
If you are worried then would just either not purchase or if its for Hom buy it.
this week is also event so you may find more on.
As poster has said some guys will run it for you just have to have the gold to pay for it. You should have birthday gifts also that can offset the cost ect

To answer your question, no EoTN is not dead. I was in the outpost Eye of the North and it was packed with people. Importatn is that you pick a good district. Only European - english district (eed) and america - english district (aed) is active. Due to serverissues did many (but not all) eed players switch to aed.
Forget it. Guildwars started as a game that could be played with henchman and where you didn't need help of others. But playing with others ment things where a lot easier. In the past they slowly changed it. First with the introduction with heroes. Later with the possibility to bring 7 heroes instead of 3. For the purpose of finding a group of random people to simply play the game this changed a lot. 95% of the people are not willing to spent 30 minutes of time to find a group of people to play with and the other 5% just gave up on trying soon enough.
There are pug's forming however. but not on this stage of the game.
The first are the daily zaishen tasks (a bounty, a mission and a vanguish). Wich is different everyday and given in the outpost "embark beach" to be able to participate you need to be able to do it in hard mode (having finished the campaign where the task is, so preferable all).
Second is speedclears of UW, FoW and DoA. This agin needs hard mode. Besides that those pugs are really elite and demand specifick builds and people who are willing to learn those to play (e.g. spent time on youtube to watch tutorials bout how to play your role).
For GW2 I'm happy to say that the developers saw the light and didn't put a hero system in.

I've never had a problem looking for someone to play with.. sure, it's hard to get 7 other people but just one or two and the rest heroes is enough for me and we're usually on vent with the whole guild so..
I always get full parties for vanquishes that's easy because everyone is doing it, just get through the game and do that if you want full parties because most people are farming.
No it's not dead the game is just heavily instanced so it feels that way, and it's not exactly fun to go and do campaign missions over and over when you have done it for 6 years.. ya dig?
I will admit I usually ignore people that ask for help in outposts even though I really do want to help it's just so tedious after all the years plus there is that chance to fail, yes even with OP heroes people can still facepull in HM and wipe the group before I get a chance to flag heroes or whatever and try doing missions with a group of 7 noobs, you will see why people use heroes REAL quick. It's just not worth the waste of time to most people.
At least in vanquishes there is not really a big chance to fail you are just going around killing mobs with others which is fun when there is no fail factor imo. If GW wasn't such a harsh game towards new players this wouldn't be a problem.. I don't log on to get frustrated. Hope this helps you understand why people don't do missions much -_-
There are always speed clears as well, which are people farming elite area's in as little time as possible but that's even less fun imo.
Honestly heroes and henchmen should have never been implemented.

If you are playing GW just to get HoM points, what does it matter whether you play with NPCs or not? To answer your question, you aren't likely to find groups wanting to do most missions these days because 1) People are spread out across 3 campaigns and an expansion, 2) The game hasn't had new purchasable content in almost 5 years, and 3) We've already done all those missions 10+ time over anyway.
Still, if you're looking for someone to help you get your HoM points, try talking to the Zaishen Scout in any mission outpost. He'll take you to an area designed to make finding groups easier.

Are you in the US districts? Other ones will be pretty quiet.

With the ability to use 7 heros - something you not stated as only hench were mentioned - does mean waiting for pugs isnt needed. And tbh theres several hero builds out there that can steamroll thru gw easily.A gd example is when i did a fast gw complete run on 2 accounts same time , eotn i did both modes together and one account was leeching and there was no probs and same for rest of the 3 campaigns.
Its up to you which route you take - pugs you have to time right to get into (* busy or quiet periods ) but heros mean no waiting , no getting idiots in the group to spoil things ( sadly there are still idiots in gw ).

At this point in the life cycle most regular missions are better to play with heroes, you will finish faster and will get to the content where everyone else is playing.
The zaishen mission is a clear example... I'm so used to my "hero team" that I didn't ask anyone in my guild to do "unwaking waters" and when the other team arrived, they actually complained that I was all heroes. (really uncalled for since its not a hard mission and my heroes are well equipped and had the necessary skills bars... but of course they didn't know that)
Other than that elite areas always have people LFG or just get on a guild that does runs on the elite areas regularly.

if you doing HOM for GW2 then u MUST buy EOTN wherether it's dead or alive ^_^.
well, i think u should expect for the same thing in EOTN mission. most people doing HOM are rushing so they dont team up with people either.
