Hi id like to start off saying im new here and am Highly looking forward to guild wars 2. Im currently looking to upgrade my PC and am hoping not to spend more than $250 if possible. i could do more if need be. atm i can play diablo 3 and SWTOR at max settings with no problem. im just looking for that extra boost i need (if i need one) to be able to play Guild wars 2.
here are my specs:
Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 830 Processor (4 CPUs), ~2.8GHz
Memory: 8192MB RAM
DirectX 11
AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series
Motherboard: M5A78L-MLX
Power Supply: 500 Watt
Display:1920 x 1080 (32 bit) (60Hz)
Would this play the game pretty well or would i need to upgrade something? any help is much appreciated. thank you!

Yeah looking at the computer, it exceeds every aspect of the minimum requirements.
Quad Core processor will do perfectly fine for the game, in fact, I don't believe the game will utilize even 50% of the processor. RAM will be more than enough. Graphics card's specs look more than capable.
Simply put, unless you wanna throw ~$400 at the new top of the line AMD gpu GHz edition, your computer should be more than capable of running GW2 at its highest settings without bottle necking.
The ONE thing you didn't mention was your HDD. To me, I would recommend running a SSD for your main HDD for windows + gw2. I think that's the only significant upgrade you could make IF you are not already running one. The SSD's are much faster than your standard HDD.

I agree that the OP's computer looks fine as it is. It might be a somewhat jerky at the highest settings but I think it could pull GW2 off well.
From what I've seen during the betas so far, GW2 in it's pre-release state is actually quite CPU intensive so it might utilize >50%. Then again, the devs will likely optimize the game prior to official release so that CPUs aren't as burdened.
All I can say is that I could fry eggs on my chassis and Speccy showed the CPU was the culprit. I don't get that with other games.

The CPU might struggle a bit in crowded areas or WvW events. If it does, the simplest upgrade would be to a faster Phenom II x4 or x6.
You have enough RAM and a large enough power supply.
The graphics performance would depend a bit upon what specific HD6700 series GPU you have. If it's a HD6770 it should work quite well, but you would be able to get higher graphics settings and/or better fps with an HD6800 or HD7800 series.
