Aurora Glade--Demagogue?

Is the bonus quest here possible without another player?
I have enough trouble getting the crystals attuned as it is without leaving them alone for several minutes while I go kill some dude.

Yes it is,
The way I normally do it is going to the middle shrine (not evening turning it blue) and follow the middle path (I don't worry bout them capturing the other shrines). Then I'm using either cornerblocking or an SoS-build to stop the runner to the middle. Make sure you alway kill him (there are bout 5-6 runners in total the profession differs). Inbetween runners I always advance up the enemy troup slowly, always keeping in mind that if there is a runner, I need to block him. As soon as you killed all enemy's there will be one red dot left (the demagogue). So take your time and relax. first kill the demagogue and then take all the time to explore the area if you need the explorer title and then turn the three shrines blue.
The most tricky part is to block the runner all the time. beside bringing lots of spirits and using the corner to block it is also good to bring skills like icy prison (ele water skill that slows) and skills like move like a dwarf (causes knockdown). off course extending your party with lots of minions helps as well in the process of blocking them.

I pretty much do the same, but I DO cap the middle shrine as carelessly letting one runner through means game over. If one DOES get past, you can leave your heroes pinned and run like hell to re-cap.
Ok, I'm paranoid. What I actually do is cap the shrine, pin the heroes, then go and get another crystal just in case.

There are a limited number of runners? If that's the case I'll just attune one crystal and then take my time killing them. I'd assumed that the runners spawned infinitely as long as all 3 weren't attuned.

Well 6 is the max I ever had. However it might just be cause I move through the enemy's faster and it's just any enemy close to their pedestal thats become a runner.
Snograt,
it doesn't matter if the middle shrine is blue or grey. if an enemy runner gets there it turns red and its game over. So i don't waste time turning it blue and focus on the first choking point to block runners and kill foes.

I leave the middle alone and head to the left shrine immediately...they should just be leaving as the party gets there...turn the shrine blue and flag the party at the left shrine (hard mode i flag them apart to avoid aoe spells hitting the entire party, nm doesnt matter)...then i run back grab a crystal and turn the right shrine blue...then grab another crystal abd head back to the left turn it blue...at that point its basically running back, grabbing crystal and turning the left shrine back to blue if it turned red when you left to get another crystal...and just repeat a few times. If your party is good and you dont delay getting to/from the pedestal, you never have to worry about the right one after you turn it blue the first time. Then when all the runners (and pretty much all the mantle) are dead, you can go get the bonus...since the middle shrine will still be red. Once the bonus is done, just grab one more crystal and do that middle shrine and your done. Having some form of speed boost helps take the angst away but not needed once you get used to it.

The demagogue is the guy that is attuning their crystals, once the guards are all dead and the only the runner groups remain you advance on his position, kill him and take his crystal to attune the last shrine.
I've done it many time in HM and NM with heroes so it can be done, although I prefer the left and middle shrines myself.

This is how I always did it as well, it's pretty much a no brainer and safe.
And if you read the parts I bolded, it takes into account the demagogue. He'll be all alone at the place all those white mantles came from.

Another way is bringing Necrotic Traversal or Consume Corpse and hope for a good spawn with one pig inside the gate. Flag heros back, Kill pig and teleport in. Unflag heroes(optional), Kill Demagogue.

Snograt's method is the safest method.
Flag heroes to east shrine, and alternate capping east and west shrine. Just keep a crystal with you at all times, and the heroes can do the rest. If the east and west shrines are controlled by your team, feel free to slaughter runners trying to get through. Ignore the south shrine; it should remain gray if you concentrate on east and west.

My suggestion for the mission stands. There are multiple methods to succeed here.
