Looking for some help regarding HoM

Hi there!

Sorry for bothering you with yet another HoM thread but I'm in a bit of a bind.

I recently started playing Guild Wars 1 after falling in love with Guild Wars 2 and its lore, I really didn't want to feel like I missing out so I decided to complete the 4 campaigns (loved them by the way).

When I started I didn't even consider the HoM because I never thought I would have enough time to get anywhere but considering how pretty the rewards are and the fact I have about a month I decided to give it a shot

Which brings me to my request for help...
I have 17 points:
20 mini pets (including a rare one)
5 heroes
a rare pet
5 statues in Honor (from the campaigns)

For getting further I read several articles on the wiki and here on the forum but it seems like my only way forward is getting elite armor and weapons (which require an insane amount of money), so here I am hoping someone could give me some advice on what armor and/or weapons I should try to buy and also perhaps some advice on getting some more money for doing so (keep in mind I'm completely clueless about stuff like farming).

Thank you,
Aephy.

Having the 3 campaigns linked should get you a free 3 points, and completing each campaign is worth 1 point each. If you obtain Zho's journal from facing her in the norn tournament in Gunnar's Hold, you can obtain a unique miniature for an additional point, though it requires a bit of running around.

Additionally, The war in Kryta content can be farmed for oppressor's weapons. Simply playing through the WiK story line should earn you enough medals to get 1-2 oppressor's weapons. (I just recently took my assassin through the quest line, and wound up with 14 medals; a bit more than enough for 1 weapon)

Elite armor can be a chore to get, but if you manage to get rank 5 in any of the EotN allegiance titles (norn, vanguard, asura, dwarf) you can craft elite armor that's a bit cheaper than it is in other campaigns (except for the dwarves {unless you're a warrior}).

Hero armors are pretty easy to farm, especially brotherhood armor. You get a guaranteed cloth of the brotherhood from completing Glint's challenge in the central transfer chamber. You can also obtain mysterious armor pieces ( for your nightfall heroes) from the shadow nexus challenge mission. It's a 4 man mission, but it's fairly easy with a decent hero setup.

Thank you Avatar of Me for your reply

You say that completing each campaign will give me a point each, are you sure? Because adding the Hero of Cantha, Tyria and Elona with the Protector of Tyria and Elona only gave me the "5 Statues" and the "Any statue" reward.

Thank you for your tip with War in Kryta, I didn't know about the Beyond quests... (I'm feeling a bit dumb right now )

Do you have any tips on making some money? If I'm going to get any where near the 30 points I'm going to need a lot more money, I've read the sticky so I already sold the 50 keys and I swear I did use the search but in every post I read everyone was using acronyms which made it very confusing since I have no idea what they stand for (again, feeling a bit dumb).

Anyways thank you for your help
Aephy.

Did you get the unique pet? (green, Moa chick) check the wiki if you didn't.

for money its tough... keep playing and selling anything of value that you get from drops.

Farm Nicholas the traveler gifts and sell them 4.5k - 5 k each. (check the wiki so you know where to farm)

Also after WiK you will get 20+ royal gifts, again sell them 4 - 4.5k each

Hearts of the North (after WiK) which will get you 8 medals and some war supplies which will be enough for another oppressor weapon... sell it for 90k - 100k and use the money to get 2 EoTN armors or a destroyer weapon.

finally if farming is what you are looking for... The mission auspicious beginnings (Hearts of the north) will yield 1 plat and 5 war supplies per run (average time 8 min, no need for special equipment of builds) a stack of war supplies can go for 100k.

Edit

Also join a guild that is still doing elite areas so you can get the "Conqueor of" titles

I was mistaking the "points" for actual points. What I really meant was, "you can add a statue for each completed campaign."

Quick note if you are planning on getting any of the elite armors. You do not need the headpiece to be able to add the armor to your HoM, just the four main body pieces. Any max cheap 1k headpiece will work just as well for running around bashing red dots

Edit: Er, and just to check since your original post didn't specify...is one of the heroes already in your HoM M.O.X.? He's the only hero who comes ready-to-HoM without any armor upgrade.

Oh my, thank you so much for all your answers!

Cancer, those are some very helpful tips, I will most definitely be spending some time making some money

Ah right I get it now Avatar, I wish each campaign gave me a point...

Meow I had already read about the head piece not being needed somewhere on the this forum and yes M.O.X. is indeed one of the heroes I added, thank you for heads up though

Cancer meant to sell Gifts of the Traveler to other players.

For more hero armor, you can also get pieces from the Dajkah Inlet challenge mission if you haven't yet, which is pretty easy to complete with whatever party you use for normal play. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Dajkah_Inlet

Weapons are by the most expensive points to get after you get a single destroyer weapon, and maybe a single oppressor weapon for another point. Hero armor and cheap white minis are the cheapest places to get more points.

If you ever come across acronyms you don't understand, the wiki's a good place to search; lots of common acronyms are on there. But if you can't find them there, just ask in a thread here (this thread or the thread the acronym showed up in or whatever)! Nothing stupid about not knowing terminology. Some people might be asses about it, but they're asses, so who cares.

The Inlet gives armor for your first five heroes in Nightfall; for the next five you need to hit up Remains Sahlahja; the last five heroes get theirs from Shadow Nexus.

All of these challenge missions can be run with a team of heroes.

You may also want to look at some of the easier statues you can complete. For example, Legendary Defender of Ascalon is relatively easy to do now and will provide an additional statue for your monument. Also, you might look at completing all Protector/Guardian titles. This will provide money and title points while providing more statues.

Coming up on August 6th, the Iron Forgeman is the Zaishen Bounty. You might consider doing the intro quests to Sorrow's Furnace and killing him then; this will grant a statue.

The various reputation titles may be worth farming at some point, both for the gold gained during the farm and the statues.

I'm in agreement with those who are suggesting you should move on to the Beyond content now (War in Kryta, Hearts of the North, and Winds of Change), since they not only help you add things to your Hall and give you money, but they are the content that is designed to bridge GW1 lore to GW2 lore.

If you've completed Factions, make sure you go tame your Imperial Phoenix - you'll need to redo the last mission against Shiro, and an IP will spawn in where you previously got your award for completing the campaign. If you wait until Tuesday, it will be EASY to find an elementalist who will "run" the mission for you for about 1k. That will give you a pet for the Rare Pet Statue once you level it up to lvl 20. http://wiki.gtm.guildwars.com/wiki/Imperial_Phoenix

Make sure you take the Zaishen Mission for it first - http://wiki.gtm.guildwars.com/wiki/I...ishen_quest%29 that way you'll not only make back what you pay the runner, you'll get some Z-coins as well.

Z-coins are selling for about 1.6k/silver and up to 18k for gold, so you definitely want to be doing the daily Zaishens whenever you can. Plus, that helps towards getting your hard mode titles, and makes progression in the EotN titles a little less grindy.

Also, have you dedicated a rare (gold) miniature, yet?
