Since so many people have been attracted to Guild Wars recently to gain HoM points in anticipation of GW2's lauch, I thought I'd make a thread in the hopes of answering some of the more commonly asked questions regarding getting HOM points. The following is a breakdown of my opinions on the difficulty, time requirement and various options for obtaining points. Consult the official wiki for more information about desired topics.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Monument of Devotion -- Minipets -- 8 Total Points
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Any Mini (1 point) -- Easy. Usually costs between 1k and 5k to buy a generic white mini if you don't care which one. You can also get minis from collector's editions of Factions and Nightfall if you bought them; wait a year for your character's birthday; do the Black Moa Chick Quest sequence (rather a lot of work) or get them from various items (lunar fortunes, coffer of whispers... very low drop rates).
- Rare Mini (1 point) -- Medium. These can be purchased fairly easily, but the costs are usually 20k and up (sometimes much more than this). They are also rare drops from birthday presents. The cheapest way to get one is probably a celestial mini drop from Lunar Fortunes (opening a stack of these generally will yield 1-2 in my experience, more if you're lucky).
- Unique Mini (1 point) -- Medium/Hard. These are usually the hardest to get, so costs will be higher. Collector's editions of Factions and Nightfall are ideal if you can still find them, since they come with one included. Doing the quest chain for the black moa chick is also a reliable, but time consuming, way of getting one.
- 20 minis (2 points) -- Medium. Getting 20 different minis isn't that difficult, but newer players will have to buy most of them or wait for birthdays. Buying common minis is a reliable way to get to 20 cheaply, but it is still time consuming to find and buy 20 DIFFERENT minis.
- 30/40/50 minis (1 point each) -- Medium/hard. Be prepared to either spend a lot of gold buying minis or have a lot of characters with birthday presents.

Monument of Fellowship -- Hero and Pet Statues -- 8 Total Points
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Any Hero Statue (1 point) -- Easy. If you acquire Mox as a hero (can be done by owning the trilogy and making it to any port city) he can be added without any additional requirements.
- Any Pet Statue (1 point) -- Easy. Leveling a pet to level 20 is fast and easy by use of death leveling in the Zaischen Menagerie. Alternative, you can make a PvP ranger, which automatically comes with a lvl 20 wolf. You should be able to deposit the wolf in the menagerie and then get a level 20 wolf from it on any other character to avoid leveling.
- Any Rare Pet (1 point) -- Easy/Medium. The rare pets are: Black Widow, Phoenix, or Black Moa. Of all these, the Black Moa is probably the most accessible. You'll need to do around 6 missions on the mainland of Cantha, taking the Kurzick side, to get the quest which awards it. For the Spider, you'll need to ascend, then complete a few quests in the underworld, which tends to be tough for beginners. To obtain a Phoenix, simply complete the factions campaign by killing Shiro in the Imperial Sanctum mission. be sure to bring charm animal with you, and no existing pet.
- 5 Companion Statues (2 points) -- Medium. For this you'll need to upgrade at least 2 heroes with armor (assuming you used pet and Mox statues as well)
or at most 5 heroes with armor (if you don't use pets/Mox). Getting armor is most easily done by playing challenge missions in Nightfall or Eye of the North. You can also obtain hero armor by playing through the Domain of Anguish (Elite) or Slaver's exile (ELITE). Probably the easiest of the challenge missions is Dajkah Inlet, which can get you armor to upgrade up to five of the nightfall heroes.
- 10/20/30 companion statues (1 point each) -- Medium/hard. I recommend Glint's challenge for upgrading your EotN heroes, as it can be done solo with H/H and a decent team setup. It'll take around 10 minutes to complete it with an armor piece rewarded per run. The only problem is that you'll have to make it to the Central Transfer chamber before being able to start doing it, but this gives you a chance to get the heroes. For the Nightfall heroes, most of the challenge missions are not too hard, though many find Remains of Sahlahja to be difficult. Consider doing some DoA instead. Pick up groups can still occasionally be found and there are 7 hero teams that can do it with a lot of work.

Monument to Honor -- In Game achievements -- 18 Total Points
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Accounts Linked (3 points) -- Easy. Simply make an NCSoft account and link it with your guild wars account. The easiest points you'll ever get.
- Any Statue (2 points) -- Easy. The easiest ways to get a statue would be to either complete any one of the three campaigns, or to get to the point of ascension/closer to the stars/etc. and do a full run through the Fissure of Woe. FoW can be completed in around 1.5 hours with a good team (and less with a great team). Getting to the point of being able to enter FoW should take less than 10 hours from character creation if you work towards it constantly. It can theoretically be done in as little as a few hours in prophecies (perhaps less) by getting runs from ascalon to Sanctum cay and runs through the crystal desert missions. Completing the entire factions campaign can be done in a weekend of playing easily.
- Any PvP statue (3 points) -- Hard. Learning to be good at Guild Wars PvP can take some players years. All but one of the PvP statues will require a significant time investment. The Eternal Zaishen Supporter is obtained by getting rank 3 on the Zaishen title track and is the only PvP statue that can be obtained without playing any PvP. Buying and using z-keys will progress the title, but buying the keys will be quite expensive, especially for new players.
- 5 statues (3 points) -- Easy/Medium. Complete the 3 campaigns for 3 easy statues and you'll only need two more. If you complete the bonus/master's objectives for all the missions (in either normal mode or hard mode), this will reward you with additional statues. Doing this in normal mode also takes little extra time if you do these objectives the first time through (check wiki entries for tips before trying). Doing two of the elite areas will also carry you up to 5, and the skill hunter titles are also fairly easy, assuming that you can buy the signets of capture needed.
- 10/15/20/25/30/35/40 statues (1 point each) -- Medium/Hard. After the statues described above, the other statues tend to take a lot more time and effort. If you are considering vanquishing to get the Eternal vanquisher, combine it with Cartographer for efficiency. Figure, on average, and hour per zone to vanquish. Statues like "Ale-hound" "Party Animal" and "Sweet Tooth" are technically easy to do, but most will need to spend large sums of gold to get the necessary consumable (100g per point of the title track generally), so most new players should avoid trying to do these for some time. Maxing reputation titles in NF and EotN is reasonably quick and can be done during bonus weekends to speed things up.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Monument to Resilience -- Elite Armor Collection -- 8 Total Points
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Any Armor Statue (1 point) -- Medium. For this you'll need to buy a set of "elite" or "15k" armor. This armor is statistically the same as other max armor you can get, but cosmetically nicer. Elite armor tends to cost around 100k for all the pieces and the necessary materials, though some can be much more. To save money, salvage a lot of your drops along the way for things like iron, cloth and hides. Also, before buying rare materials from a trader, compare the cost of crafting them from an artificer first. Several faction armor in EotN can cost a good deal less than 100k, particularly if you don't have to buy a lot of materials (you will hae to obtain a suitable reputation rank to buy these however). Consider Ancient Armor in Nightfall to save on cost as well.
- Kurzick/Luxon Armor (1 point) -- Hard. These are expensive and require many rare crafting materials. The total cost usually will greatly exceed 100k per armor set.
- Vabbian Armor (1 point) -- Hard. The set only costs 25k, but also uses 16 rubies and 16 sapphires (you don't need the headpiece for the statue). These can easily cost 5k each (often more). Rather than buying them, consider doing quests in nightfall which reward trade contracts, as these can be traded for rubies and sapphires. Also, certain Winds of Change content rewards rubies and sapphires.
- Obsidian Armor (1 point) -- Hard. This is by far the most expensive armor set in the game. Depending on the current price of ectos and obsidian shards, the total cost can easily surpass 1 million gold. You'll also have to do a number of quests in the fissure of fow to be able to access the NPC who crafts it.
- 3/5/7 Armor sets (1 point each for 3 and 7, 2 points for 5) -- Hard. Again, figure on around 100k per armor set if you're buying all or most of the crafting materials, with those armors listed above being a lot more. Plan ahead to save money.

Monument to Valor -- Weapons -- 8 Total Points
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Any Weapon (1 point) -- Medium. Destroyer weapons are the easiest to get these days. Save your granite to ease the expense of crafting them. Doing most dungeons can be a good way to get the diamonds and onyx needed (they often drop form end chests and occasionally from chests found with Light of Deldrimor). There are also certain quests which reward them that can be done on multiple characters quickly. Check the wiki for more info.
- Destroyer Weapon (1 point) -- Easy/Medium. These are by far the easiest of the three to obtain.
- Tormented Weapon (1 point) -- Hard. These are some of the most expensive weapons in the game. You must complete DoA multiple times to acquire the gems needed to trade for an Arbrace of Truth, then the armbrace can be traded for a single tormented weapon. If buying these weapons, figure on them costing in the neighborhood of 150-250k each (you'll generally find people selling the armbraces more than the weapons themselves).
- Oppressor weapon (1 point) -- Medium/Hard. These are obtained by either completing the War in Kryta plotline or by farming the trophies in WiK/Hearts of the North content. One completion of WiK will result in having enough to acquire one oppressor weapon. Consider doing it on multiple characters, but you'll have to have done a lot on that character prior to attempting it. The weapons themselves tend to sell for around 100k as well, so that would be faster if you have the cash.
- 5/11/15 weapons (1 point for 5 and 15, 2 points for 11) -- Medium/Hard. The most cost efficient way of doing this is probably to get as many oppressor weapons as you can by doing WiK content over and over. This will not be time efficient however. Consider going for mostly destroyer weapons if you can find a good granite farm (there are several out there) and make up the difference with oppressor weapons and tormented weapons.
