Clarification on Name Reserve

I read the news on Name Reservation, and it left me with a couple of questions.

1. Are all names on an "Active" (logged in since January) account *that is not linked to a GW2 account* also reserved until launch day?
2. If a new name is added to a GW1 account now, to an active account that *is* linked to a GW2 account, is it reserved with the rest of the names? I mean, is it the names themselves that existed on 7/31 that were reserved, or is it 'all names on this account' are reserved, even if they change after 7/31?

I have a name I want to use in GW2 that is on an alt (active) account that is not linked to a GW2 account, and won't be. I was going to delete a character or buy a slot on my main (linked to GW2) account, then delete the name from my alt account, and quickly add it to my main. Would I be better off to do that right now (will it be reserved with the rest of my names?) or wait until headstart, delete them, make it directly in GW2? Because if it's reserved until launch day on an account that isn't linked, then if someone tries to make it during headstart, it will deny them. I can delete it during headstart and immediately make it and someone would only have that quick minute to get it, right?

I know someone else is after the name, because they used it in Beta. I want to be sure I get it - I've had it reserved in GW1 since the day they announced the Engineer - it's mine, I don't want it vultured away by whoever that is trying to get it.

Thanks for any info.

I would assume they are reserved yes. But without having the account linked you would most likely not be able to get it.

As far as we know only names that was taken before the 31/7 was reserved and new names won't

They took a snapshot of all the names on 'active' (think they defined that as logged into since Jan) accounts on 7/31. Those names will only be usable by an account that is linked to the gw account that used that name till they release them. They will release them as soon as the 29th.

At this point nothing done on the gw account matters. If you are not going to link to the account that had a name before this month, then you have to grab it at the same time it opens up to all.

1: yes.
2: no.

the only way for you to be able to access the name on the second account is by linking the second account to your gw2 account. You can however only link one gw1 account to one gw2 account. So in short the name will not be reserved for your gw2 account and will not be available on launchday. The only thing you can do is try and claim it when the reserved names have been freed. Anet announced to do that some days after release day (only first day names are garanteed to be reserved, but they need some time to deal with support tickets before releasing the reserved names).
