I bought GW factions some years ago, but i didnt have money so i waited several years for gw2 to come. Now i've played gw2, but still im in love with gw1 pvp, the best shit on any mmorpg i've ever seen.
My question is: I'd really want to buy prophecies and nightfall, but is the game dying? With all of its years and recent release of gw2, is the community still on?
Thx in advance : )
Is it still worth buying?

that is a tough question to answer...some areas of gw are almost completely gone (pvp), but pve is still going strong---MOSTLY because people are either playing with heroes or in a guild.
The game is cheap in price, so you could pick it up and play when ever you wish. You can play it when you wish as often as you wish or like you, not play for years and pick it up again. Either way its STILL a great game with lots of playtime for most people.

now that i'm a more mature player i'll probably enjoy a lot more the pve : 3

there are less people since the other game came out, but I have noticed in the past few days (2 weeks or so) that there are more people...so either people are now trying gw for the first time or are coming back...either way the game is still playable and there are still people doing the zquests etc...just not many pvp-ers (even the line in factions hadnt moved since august)

I still play daily, for an hour or so, farming for Nick in presear. Then depending on my schedule, I log on to my post ranger for an hour or an afternoon/evening, taking one last character through it all. Currently just exploring and opening the map, most of Maguuma Jungle open (to Riverside Province), with no missions done since Divinty Coast.
So hard to just walk completely away from this game.
I now know, GW2 will not run on my computer, not enough CPU, although everything else is sufficient.
