Prestige Armor prices

Hello, I have been playing GW for almost six years now, although not consistently. I realize that this is pretty noobish, but what are some total costs for prestige armor sets? I also realize that the total cost is different for each set, but what sort of price range am I looking at if I just buy all the materials for various sets? If I need to specify exactly which sets I'm looking at, I can, but judging by some of the other posts I've looked at, you guys are pretty knowledgeable about everything GW. Thanks!

What's GW?

It really varies a lot.
Obsidian armour will cost over a million gold.
Elite Vabbian could be 300k+. I can't remember what my obby and Vabbian sets cost.
Elite kurzik could be around 250k... Again, I can't remember what I paid.

It would be helpful if you could list which ones you want though .

But it's not just the cost- your character needs to have the outpost unlocked to be able to craft there. And of course, they're all tricky/time-consuming to reach.

Okay, so, is the main contributor is the cost of the materials? Cause I calculated the total cost of some of them based on the base value that the wiki had on the materials and the result was obviously too low. I'm mainly looking at Warrior armors, Elite Kurzick and maybe one of the Prophecies ones, probably Elite Platemail. The outposts I don't have to worry about, I'm already there/almost there on most, if not all, my characters, I'd have to check.

Yeah

But I crafted my armours years ago. My main has had his elite kurzik armour on for about 5-6 years now. Probably needs a wash.....
The prices of materials is market-driven. When I bought my obby armour, ectos were about 8k each. Now they're at around 5.5k so it'll be cheaper. For my Vabbian, rubies and sapphires were about 8k too. Now they're 10k(ish), so that will cost more.

Spend some time in Kamadan watching the trade chat to get an idea if what each material costs, figure out how much you need for your armour, then get the calculator out.

Awesome, that was going to be another question, so, the main trade area is Kamadan? also, should I buy the basic crafting materials from people or is there a merchant for those? I haven't played in awhile... Also, I have a bunch of birthday minis that, according to the miniature post are a certain price, but that post is old, so should I start a new thread asking for accurate prices for those specific minis?

There are material trader NPCs in most major towns, but there are always human traders who will sell them to you for less. Usually you can buy materials from players at a price halfway between what the material trade NPC buys and sells at.

Yes, Kamadan America 1 is the main trading place.

As for your minis, take a close look at the sales threads here on guru to get an idea of their actual value and what they sold for, then start your own sales thread listing which ones you have and any prices you'd like for them. Beware traders trying to buy them cheap from you. Make sure you know their value.
They are worth far more in an undedicated state. Ie, unless you want to dedicate them at your hall of monuments, sell them undedicated.

Hope I'm helping.

EotN armor is the cheapest overall, as long as you don't pick one that uses claws or fangs. You can get a 4-piece set for about 40-50k (head gear cost is proportional, not required for hom). But you also need to have the rank 5 rep. Other armor types will cost anywhere from 50k to 100k depending on the materials (and not including the faction/vabbian/obsidian which are even more).

I have moved this 'discussion' to riverside since it really isnt a price check.

and to answer the OP question:
the wiki has a list of all the mats required for each armor.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Armor
Take the time to visit the mat or rare mat trader to find out what the prices are for materials (fastest way to get them), you can also haggle in kamadan for different prices, but these are also set by what the mat traders are selling/buying at.
You will also get some of the common mats and a few rares by salvaging drops.

Thanks guys, do think it might be an okay idea to, after finding accurate material prices, post a buy thread thingy on here for the exact number of materials I need for the price I want, or should I just hang around kamadan and get the best price for the individual stacks of materials I need?

If you were to buy all your materials from the material trader then Elite Kurzick would cost 265.8k (mostly because Amber is really expensive) and Elite Platemail would cost 143.8k . If you trade with other players and they sell you the materials at the lowest possible value then Elite Kurzick would be 225.8k and Elite Platemail would be 123.8k . A full Asuran set would cost 64.8k ~ 72.8k. So there's your price range.

In order to find the exact number of materials you need, you just have to look at the wiki. Here is the page for the Elite Kurzick armor.

In order to find the price range of any material you can buy just 1 amount and the add the buy price and the sell price (from the merchant) and divide that sum by 2.

For example, if I want to check the price range for amber, I would need to have at least 1 amber in my inventory, then talk to a Rare Material Trader (doesn't matter from which outpost, they're all the same) and see that he is offering to buy it for 1.7k and selling it for 2.1k . Therefore, if I wanted to trade with another player, a mutually fair price would be (1.7 + 2.1) / 2 = 1.9k. Some player will offer you 2k while others will accept 1.8k or even 1.7k, it will vary.

Thanks, I got that same amount for Elite Kurzick. I have looked at the wiki extensively, but thanks anyway. Is Lion's Arch still as big a trade center as it used to be?

I would use both Lion's Arch and Kamadan, maybe even Great Temple of Balthazar. Just place your trade in the Trade Chat (or press P) and wait 5-15 minutes. If nobody answers, go to LA for 5-15 then to GToB and so on. I wouldn't bother with any other outpost.

Even though Kamadan is going to be your best shot, both LA and GToB are also pretty heavily populated. So even if they might not have people who are selling/buying, there might be a person who will see your Trade Chat messages and decide to help you out.

if you plan on doing anything in the kurzick area--make sure you talk to the priests so you can get kurzick faction which you can also trade to the kurzick bureaucrat for some of the amber instead of buying it from the mat trader or others...you can get a few that way. (if you want to vanquish those areas you can get more faction to trade for them).

so just keep an eye out for some of the drops which you can salvage for the mats you need (steel and iron can be salvaged out of some weapons...check out the wiki for contains iron and contains steel for weapons you can get these mats out of: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Category:Contains_iron
and http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Category:Contains_steel though steel can also be crafted at a material crafter).

Awesome, thanks guys, I really appreciate your help; if I ever manage it, I'll post on here when/if I purchase my set...
