Wintersday 2012

Yes it's that time of year again.
Wintersday is upon us (a wee bit late), with our old favorites and a new way to get the old hats....which is similar to the past 2 holidays.
For these you need to collect candy cane shards and turn them in to the snowman or the grentch for the accessory token. And also there is the grab bag...what's inside this time?

and if you check out the official site, yes the page is WRONG, you will NOT get headgear by attending the finales (wish they would update that really)...though you might have also received an email telling you about the events.

i had many cc shards left, so almost got enough for 1 quest

I dont know if anet wanted to be like that but at the moment you can score a gift of battle at Dwanya vs Grenth and this is ruining the game. I hope they'll fix it...

its part of the flux for this month...its supposed to do that.

Where are the rift wardens for the Grinch inspired quests?

They always arrive a little bit later in the Wintersday event.

now gotta wait a bit to see whats in the grab bags, as i may get 2 of those instead of grenth's horns + 1 grab bag, depends on whats in them

yeah, I got a grab bag and am keeping the accesssssory (have them from the last holidays--gotta have them all ya'know).

but I have other accounts that dont need/care about the hats, so will get a grab bag that way and see what's inside--hope its not just more wintersday stuff, but something unique (I have opened hundreds of wintersday gifts I had from previous years....got TONS of summoners, fruitcakes, etc...)

I got one Frozen Accessory Token. I can't find where to get another. Is the limit for these 1 or 2 per account?

Nevermind, I found out it's 2. You get one from that ice elemental in Kamadan by a portal. And in Lions Arch from Krunch, I think its name is.

since the wiki isnt being updated.....

there are 2 npc's to talk to...one is the snowman (brrrrrete? and brrrrle?), the other is the grench (krisp and krunch--cant remember which is which). You can get one of each hat for the tokens--one grentch one and one snowman one (You will notice at the npc for the hats that they only offer 10? hats--you have to go to the other side to get the other hat).

so you can get 2 hats, you just need to talk to both npcs to get the tokens. (I got grab bag and still had another token to use at the same time, so you should be able to get 2 hats in theory--will update when I get all my cc shards on another acount).

wish someone would update the wiki!! (no, I cant--wont let me log in anymore, guess I pisssssed off gaile a few too many times ).

edit: opened a grab bag...got 5 party beacons . well, at least its not more wintersday stuff.

where can i get a hat?!

I didnt see the Grenth Horns (the ones from '05), its the last Wintersday hat I need.

di dyou check BOTH hat givers??? there are 2 this time...one for grenth items and one for dwayna items.

Drop rates for CC shards is very low. Over 20 hours of "farming" since the drops started and 12 collected so far. Lost my survivor just shy of R2 trying the snowball stuff. Not going there again. Looks like collecting 600 shards isn't going to happen.

I have been doing it by opening the wintersday gifts (wee bit higher drop rate)...doing the kamadan quests on low level toons and doing the first 2 quests out of eye on all the ones that can get there... have a toon working on finishing ebon title so I get points for that and gifts to boot.

and yeah, the cc drop rate is abysmal! (I have had only about 20 drop since it started, and I was doing solo stuff too).

I know what you mean. I played snowball arena and got bored. I just hate clicking on the Present again and again every time it's knocked out of my hands. Just adjusting the mouse cursor over such a small item on the screen and clicking furiously. Can't remember the key for targeting item and don't care. I hate it. So I just went to Kamadan and bought CC shards for 200g each. Then got the hats from the first Wintersday. Now I have them all unlocked.

As for collecting 600 shards, you can only get two Accessory Tokens if I'm not mistaken. So you only need 200 shards(198 actually, 99 for each Token). I suggest just buying them. Making the money back will be faster than farming the shards.

Collecting for 3 accounts. At 200g ea., out my reach there also.
