Polar bear drop rate up?

I've been noticing more sellers then usual, or is that just my imagination?

If not, can we petition ArenaNet for increase in the drop rate?

I have no proof, but my guess is that it's due to anet not cracking down on bots. It doesn't require any actual intelligence to complete the strength of snow, just run to the end, wait for the chest to show up, and loot it.

I still think the polar bear is a hoax. Every year arenanet hands out polar bears to a select few, and makes them tell people they got the bear from the chest.

It's a never ending skinner box experiment...and we're the rats.

Agreed. It has a lot to do with the fact that bots still exist and thrive now more than ever.

It has also been speculated that many people fake 'sell' polar bears in Kamadan in an attempt to deflate the price and then purchase one cheaper.

It could also be because they are available from the grab bags. I received one that way on my 8th bag, updated the wiki, and am looking forward to ANet confirming since there's no text on opening a grab bag. A completely unexpected but very welcome surprise.

I guess. But I don't like the thought of somebody selling their polar bear for a dramatically reduced price (for some merchant to profit from) until there's more evidence than a person's first forum post.

No rumor, just the facts. And I'm the type of person to keep what I get, so don't expect to see mine for sale at all. Since no one else has reported receiving one like this, I'd suspect the drop rate to be low, though I don't know if it's as low as the chest. Also, there's a max of two grab bags per account.

I think it's more a case of people wanting to finish (or even start) their holiday hat collection rather than getting items otherwise easily available for purchase.

No luck polar bear or el reindeer -_-

There was no screen capture to take as there was no text message on opening the bag, just no polar bear before opening, and one after opening. It was confirmed the bags did have a chance to drop a bear, so at least it wasn't a glitch.
