Me/

So my laptop currently has Win7 and I want to go to Win 8 Pro.

Unfortunately I dont have any Recovery or Win 7 disks anymore, would this be a problem? I've had this laptop since Nov 2011 (black friday).

Would I just put in the OS disks for Win 8 myself? or is there a trick?

Not paying best buy $130 to install it for me lol

Hoping for the best here as there hasnt been a post in 2 months lol

Thanks!

Hi there I went to 8 pro without any problems whatsoever.

I just asked it to save certain files/when asked ect and it did so.

I erased any old rubbish that was on 7 first as had old programs /games ect I never used in a long time.

It came up re modem and it asked the key ? I could not remember but it then said lol it does not matter so continue and installed in a short time .

The little thing that bugged me as got it at inception was to close down but then I realised if you use a mouse just go to top right select settings /click /pwr then select closedown/

This was the same for junk email box just in junk box select an email then ctrl +A then it will delete all the junk email box.

Good luck and it runs GW2 /1 no problems whatsoever

I'd be curious as to why you want to install Win 8, and especially Pro, but to answer your question...

You don't need any Recovery or Win 7 disks.

By the way, if the lack of those discs is why you are installing Win 8, you need to know that you don't need the Recovery or Win 7 disks to re-install Win 7 either. All you need is the Windows Key, which should be on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop. Then all you need is ANY* Windows disc - even one burned from a downloaded ISO or another copy - and the Legit Key, to install Win 7.
Without a Recovery disc you will need to download the appropriate drivers from the laptop's website.

*the Windows should be the same version, such as Windows Home Premium, as your Key sticker states. Also note that you can install either 32-bit or 64-bit using the same key. Doing this is NOT piracy or even against the EULA as long as you use a valid Key.
