hey guys, im going to try start playing GW more often again now, been reading up on here about sin guides etc, ive been playing guildwars for like 8 or 9 years or something now but pretty much just on and off. ive got a sin already but she doesnt run any specific build, ive never really gotten in to the technical side of things before so am a complete noob when it comes to that.
however im quite sick of dying to trash in EOTN and researching around i figured id like to try getting started with a scythe sin build.
i cant find much info on what skills to put in, and the whole 5^50 whatever stuff on armour/weaps really confused me? so id like a bit of help with it.

one thing i did find was a link to a build, but i dont know how good it might be since it doesnt have user comments etc going with it.

http://pvx.wikia.com/wiki/Build:A/D_...cythe_Assassin

----------

heres all my skills/armor weap at the moment.. probably a lot of room for improvement,

i know ill be needing to buy some scythes for the build i want to try but ill buy them later

Yeah that bar you have is so random I don't know where to start.

Don't use Wikia for builds. The skill bar you linked to is also filled with awful self-preservation skills. Rework your heroes or get your heroes/other players to prot you. You're damage.

http://gwpvx.gamepedia.com/Build:A/D_PvE_Scythe_Sin
Is an option for a scythe. Always aim for vampiric unless you need energy with zealous. You lose a pip of energy or health in exchange for energy or better damage. Stick 30 health or 5 armor on it, as either work. Then an inscription of 15% base damage if you meet the health requirement with "15%>50" AKA "Strength and Honor" or "Guided by Fate" if you're enchanted.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Inscription

And always ask questions. You'll find someone doesn't know what they're talking about or that they do and can help you instead of hindering.

5. Moebius Strike
6. Critical Agility
7. Death's Charge
8. Rebirth Signet or hardrez

Thats what I been using for PVE on my assassin.

It's simple but puts out lots of damage spamming 2,3,4,5 and then 4,5 over and over again. Great if you bunched some enemies up as Death Blossom deals damage to adjacent foes.

I seem to remember that Critical Agility lasted longer in the old days. It's only 4 seconds now, not sure if thats always enough time to land a critical hit and reset the duration on it.

^ShivaTwoDelta, the critical agility lasts 4 seconds + 1 second for every point in critical strikes so in this case 16 seconds.
For my assassin I usually always go, when playing in a hero team, with a hero caller build with discord heros: [Owli4xmMtAZTuLGTqIujVjhjBA]. But I only use that build in HM pve, and would suggest trying a dagger spam build like this one for normal mode pve, or any type of pve where other human players are in the team: [OwBi0xjMVm5/cwETSTGnp/UDCA]. That build works well for zaishen missions and stuff where other people are in the team, but can be altered if you don't have good heals in the party for some defensive abilities, it's also what I would suggest for NM missions.

..snip..

If you don't need the rez I would consider "I Am The Strongest!". It lasts nearly indefinitely so it's easy to prep while running for next target.

thanks for the input guys. i got the build for the PVE scythe sin as linked, and modded my armor a a bit. got a basic gold scythe (suntouched or something) while i look for a better one on trade. ive been trying out some nightfall missions with it and blowing through groups of enemies like ive never seen before! even my nuker has a more tough time than my sin now haha.
i learnt what all those abbreviations are for, and went all through RavagerOfDreams's basic guide to playing a sin thread.
he suggests a 20/20 15^50 sundering scythe for main weapon, so my question now would be should i use that one for quote "god like damage", or the vampiric scythe as Cuilan said?

I have also been looking at the pvx site for hero builds to go with my sin, reading up about that. i have 2/3 of a spiritway team (just missing 2nd rt which ill probably get today)
and for the rest of my heroes am working in the melee support team. (rounding up all the elite skills). i actually only have the ineptitude mesmer build from that, and the rest i just used default builds with a couple additions for Talkhora, Zhed, Zenmei, Mox.
(zhed using vekk's default build instead)
are those good choices? im not exactly sure what i want out of a team. i guess they just need to keep everyone alive, which the healers have been doing extremely well so far, and kill everything quick.

There. Three points for Death's Charge, but I'm sure you'll find better skills along the way. "I Am Unstoppable!" in areas loaded with knock-downs, Asuran Scan where there is a ton of physical hate, or "For Great Justice!" for more SY spam. "Save Yourselves!" will keep the heroes/players alive in your party.

Your dagger build also has a slow recharging chain and has IaU in it as if you carry it everywhere.

Melee Support should do well for you. Ineptitude heroes can easily be swapped out for E/P (Command skills) or E/Rt (Splinter Weapon) Blinding Surge if you aren't satisfied with it. Take out Panic for Energy Surge for really easy areas or normal mode.

There's older topics somewhere around here that Vamp is greater than Sundering, but most players go Sundering. On my Dervish it's always Vamp unless I feel I'll benefit from Furious for adrenaline.

Critical Agility when not WotA isn't too bad if you know there isn't any enchantment removal. It will be the first removed enchantment because it renews on top of the enchantment stack (former Magic the Gathering player). Drunken Master when drunk or with cons and Frenzy when you feel comfortable with your abilities are options.

i think its good doing both things, experimenting yourself, and using premade builds that all the elites have tested and found worked best. like ive played guildwars for so many years now, but im only just starting to get into this sort of stuff now because i wanted a change from doing everything entirely by myself. theres probably thousands of players out there that have only used website help for missions if they get stuck, just like i did. if someone can complete the game their own way, good for them. thats the beauty of guildwars i guess

"I Am The Strongest!" is 160 damage every 20 seconds if all the attacks hit. It gives low DPS.
