Guild Wars: Origin - would it work?

If ArenaNet decided to make a GW Origins game taking place long before GW1, would you find that interesting? The Bonus Missions have given glimpses of these time periods, but what if you could relive it in a full blown game?
A game mostly based on GW1 with a few elements of GW2. A chance to explore Kingdom of Orr in it's glory days perhaps?

would love something like that as long as its the gw platform (2ndary professions et al) and not the gw2 (lack of 2ndaries, no choices for skills etc)...even if they only offer more in the bonus pack way. Though highly doubt they would return to the old one since it had so many issues (not saying the new one is any better on the issues front----)

I would love something like a Pre-Searing feel around Ascalon, no undeads around Kryta and such. Charrs would naturally still be around in the north. As much of GW1 as possible. One of the bigger problems with GW1 according to devs was that the skill system was getting out of hand, so a GW:O would probably have a lot less skills. But still with two professions and full builds.

with the pre-searing amount of skills--that would work for me.

This is a nice concept but if it did happen it wouldn't be done by modern Arenanet or rather, you wouldn't want it to be. What you are describing is how they run Fractals of the Mists and those too have become a dumping ground for expired content and 'what ifs'. Nothing positive would come from taking mechanics in GW2 and applying them to GW1 in any way. If you'd like some better idea of what I'm talking about: Gwen's Wedding except bigger, less relevant to established game lore and more obnoxious with social media to advertise it. They are not the same studio you remember.

I would like it. Maybe during the guild wars. I could imagine some interesting mechanics there (a bit similar to Luxon/Kurzick but with way mor fighting points over actual Cities and such).
I think the amount of skills is fine. It is a major part why this game is so good (and GW2 is so bad). Anet was just to lazy to work closely with the community on that part.

sounds fun, with heroes who are from those times, lol
or henchies which are useful, but not as strong as heroes can be
ps. counting it works like GW, with instances

Since there are legacy traits between GW1 and GW2.. it would be fun if you could find traits like that between GW1 and GW:O as well. For example, being part of spell research (happened in GW1 as well, for example by Aziure in The Elementalist Experiment), or shedding lights of mysterious runes and lore we don't have answer to yet.
A lot of inspiration can be found by the community as well, like in Druid's Overlook forum, like figuring out what the Mysterious runes really come from.

Sounds like we need a "Historian" in post searing Ascalon to take everyone back in time. Perhaps receive some temporary skills associated with the times, to relive the confining of Abaddon for the first time. Also, to witness the creation of the Crystal Desert.
Reading the lore is ok, but actually participating would much more interesting. Being there and being unable to change the course of history.

It would be absolutely terrible, I would not buy it, even if I really wanted to.

What this guy said. They are NOT the same ANET as made Guild Wars whether or not a few is left or not. GW2's ANet making this would be absolutely terrible, they would just eliminate everything that you care about and somehow put something relevant to GW in there.

Of course it would neither be made by the current anet nor would it be any good in the case they would. This is just dreaming. Atm. I just want Anet to leave GW as it is because I believe they would destroy it. But it's still nice to think of additions to the game.

You mean a prequel it might work compared to TV or Movies which never work.

That sounds awesome but we could just put it in GW1 as we've seen a little so far.
