that's sad. I didn't play for very long, but it really was an enjoyable game.So is GW officially dead in terms of population then?

The only time it will officially be dead in terms of population is when NCSoft/ArenaNet pulls the plug.

By the time the pug is being pulled, we definitly need an offline modus with LAN option and downloading our characters.
no, its far from death
many people still play, its just that you should search for an active guild to your wishes
wishes can be speedclear based, faction farm based, zaishen quest based etc
i prefer normal pve tbh, but many guilds still love to do pvp stuff from either AB and JQ/FA weeks, or just the ones of zaishen combat
its hard to find general pve guilds, as there's so many different ones, but there's many who do that and sometimes the pvp stuff i mentioned above
just keep looking, and dont give up on a guild if noone talks for 1 hour, as people may have reallife stuff, and many arent on cuz of timezones. no matter where you live, many people in your guild or alliances are active when you're in bed or at work/school
so just find the right guild with alliances, and you'll be able to see many people alot
in short: GW is far from dead, and people who say it is (almost) dead, just dont look far enough

this game was the best... mmo ever, i never understand why they stop dev gw1.., they should continue to create new campaigns with better graphics, new content, adding jump..., ufffffffff , everything was unique 100%, even the marketing.., they rly did a good job on this, the questing, pve, dungeons.., contrast colors, character movments, sounds! ....
gw2 is dog s**t, aion is.., dog sh**t to
someone should buy the game and continue deving it

As a veteran, it's pretty dead now, especially compared to before P2W Wars 2 was released. (It was actually pretty dead even before that anyway.) But what do you expect from a game abandoned by it's devs years ago?
Officially dead would be when Ar€na N£t shut the servers, I suppose. |
Yes this game has fewer players playing it, but that tends to happen when a sequel comes out. Only those that didn't care for the overhaul and massive changes that they did are sticking with GW1. For me personally, this game was far too simple in terms of mechanics and game play overall for my liking. After 2 years I simply got bored, but stuck around because friends kept me going.
Other than the fact that you can actually buy gold with real money and the whole game revolves around the gemstore, even more after each 'update.' Not sure what's hard to understand about that, but if you see a lot of people with the same mindset, it's probably common knowledge.

after 20 months I never have, and I still enjoy the game as much as everQuote:

I don't see how. The Gemstore is to combat Real World money bots. Which as far as I can see after 2 years, has worked extremely well. That being said, there's no obligation to use it

There is no obligations but lets be honest here, it is Pay2Win when you can buy yourself to easier gameplay. You can buy your gear straight away. Also, people don't like to feel left out, people want to buy stuff to keep up with other players as well.
I've used the gemstore on a few occasions and I don't mind. Guild Wars 2 is what it is, nothing that can be done about it unfortunately.
