on any rare (gold) unid armors.. are there certain types of armors that would salvage into something money-worth depends on the armor number or type of armor it is?
something like a gold unid armor dropped from a grawl in ascalon, vesus a armor dropped from a titan in ring of fire. :P

no difference at all, ive got a golden armor drop from yaks bend and got a superior out of it.

same I got a rune of superior vigor off of a gold armor drop from outside yaks, so it's pretty random (however i DID have superior salvage kit, not just expert)

a disturbing trend going on latley is that my gold armors arent salvaging any superiors. they are all major. if its not because of the area, is it a glitch, or was it an ANet nerf that i never heard about?

I've noticed that too. All my rare armors are major runes. In over 1000 hours I've never gotten sup absorb, or sup vigor. Every time I get a gold armor that ID's into a major, I feel lied too. Why don't they do something sensible like make blue ALWAYS minor, purple ALWAYS major, and gold ALWAYS superior? Even if they're crappy sups, at least they're sups.

yea, gold can be sup or major. purple can be major or minor.

As for best chances, well, according to some, ettins have a good chance of dropping Vigor/Absorption runes, which are generally the most valuable. Although, from my experience "good chance" means one in every 100 and counting ettins so take that with a grain of salt. I've had good luck with dwarves for runes myself, even the low level stone summit have often dropped golds for me. It stands to reason that monsters are more likely to drop runes of the class they use, but this isn't a rule, because every monster drops gold major ranger runes.

I've never gotten a sup anything from ettins. I did get a sup vigor from the Nolani Charr while farming carvings during the Halloween phase. Also managed to get 3 sup monk runes from the turkeys outside Droks on the way to the trolls. Got those all within a 45 minute span, and never gotten anythng since. I get a lot of rare armors from the Hells Precipice chasts too, but 75% of those turn out to be majors. At least you get half the key value from the merchant for selling the unsalvaged armor.

The superior can be pulled off of any gold, but i'm willing to say through personal experience-higher the lvl, better the chances, u guys who got ascalon or outside yaks are lucky...

ive had about 5 rare armors from ettins and 3 superiors came out the other day when i spent a hour ettin farming

Is it just me are do the Ettin's drop ALOT of Mesmer runes now? Outta 10 runes I must say 7 of them are usually mesmer (either major or sup, and usually Insipration magic).
