What's the best player class to lead 7H?

Hey everyone,

I recently got back into GW, the primary reason just to complete HoM as a personal goal (started this game back when I was in middle school like a decade ago, and want to say I "completely" finished it ). I haven't played since Nightfall came out, and in the past 2 weeks, I just beat EotN.

I've been testing out and playing various 7H builds, since I have no guild and no friends who play anymore. I run a N/x as my primary, and I'm currently using the Dual Fire Ele build on PvX, and am currently getting the 2nd RT hero so I can turn Razah into 3rd Me (for Glint mission, etc.)

I just started playing in HM, and I'm having some trouble not stacking up DP/occasionally getting wiped, and trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong, and could use any helpful suggestions from veterans.

I know one thing for sure is that I definitely need to agro better and not just bum rush into a group of enemies. Learned a couple of techniques from the awesome guides in here.

One question though: are there better primary professions to be than others? I'm using my N/ as a IV pod healer, running the Dual Ele PvX build, and have a SOGM Rt (so 2 of Ne/E/Me/Rt) not mentioned in the build. Something I find extremely hard to deal with esp in HM is positioning. I can ignore melee AI in NM, but in HM, their increased atkspd and damage can't be ignored as they shred my team apart, and it seems a lot of the enemy don't really clump up as neatly for AoEs compared to NM. I see my Ele wasting a lot of their AoE (meteors esp noticeable) spells on a single spellcaster (yes, I targeted them, but because they're high priority). Should I switch my RoJ monk to a UA monk? RoJ also makes the enemy scatter.

Another is the fact with all of us as back line mages, I also feel in HM my team is severely lacking in defense. Gwen does a great job at interrupting spellcasters (I get wiped if she gets interrupted first though), but my Ineptitude Me is having trouble dealing w/ the W&As that rush at the team.

Do you guys think playing as a W or A would make things easier to manage? I was watching some Youtube videos, and typically players who use W or As tank and agro very efficiently.

With completing HoM also in mind, I was thinking maybe playing as a W or A would also help for map exploration, farming, etc.

What do you guys think?

While it's true that some professions (or build types, to be specific) could be considered weaker in HM, you should be fully capable of completing the content with any profession. If you're enjoying your Necro I'd advise you to continue playing that (though heal spamming sounds ridiculously boring; this kind of thing is usually relegated to heroes), but if you're interested in playing another profession there's nothing stopping you from making one and seeing how you like it. There's no point playing a profession you don't like purely because you perceive it to be better.

When it comes to builds, it would be very helpful to post the entire builds instead of things like 'RoJ monk'. While that does give a good idea of what you're running, some builds can vary wildly in purpose and effectiveness. The quick way to do this is by taking a screenshot with your hero panels open and uploading it to an image hosting site.

Anyway, running an ST Rit pretty much makes you unkillable, even if you make an effort to aggro poorly. In terms of defence they're game-breakingly powerful. Rit heroes are hard to come by though so if you can't or don't want to run one of those, a Minion Master/Minion Bomber should help a lot with keeping aggro off you and your other squishy team members. You can find sample builds on gwpvx.com. To provide more specific advice, Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support would probably be handy because it'll create something for the foes to target before seeing the rest of the team (and it'll likely help balling the foes).
