GW DDOS Attacks

Does anyone have a way to bring a major issue to the awareness of a GW Admin or someone significant?

There is a player responsible for DDoSing the Guild Wars servers.

If you have noticed randomly lagging out despite having working internet at often times or random times recently - it is because a player is DDoSing Anet's servers directly.

I know the player behind it, is there any way to address the issue?

I have contacted both GW1 and GW2 support with the issue. Gaile Gray has referred me to support.

So far the attacks have happened at 10:26pm CST and 12:40am CST.

you can attempt to contact them thru gw2. (dont know if this issue is affecting them as well....)

I was wondering what was going on...guess that makes sense.

I keep getting disconnected. Not sure if its related but it may be worth mentioning. Thanks for investigating this.

I got dc'd yesterday night and then again tonight...so its still going on.
Hope they figure it out (hope they care--since it probably will affect servers for both games).

The most recent incident via forums with that was almost a month ago. This attack seems to be unrelated to the lizard attacks. And with the person who I know is related/behind it, he threatens it and then the servers lag out within 10 minutes of his threat.

I currently have an open ticket with GW1 and GW2.

Any update regarding this matter? I'd hate for the mAT to be ruined...

I would honestly bombard their facebook page, both their Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 facebook page. You know why? Because companies absolutely HATE when you take your problems onto their facebook page, as that's where people see it, and that's where people get an idea of how they deal with stuff. It takes them days, sometimes weeks to reply to anything, and from the look of stuff they do not care the least about their games, and I'm certain they couldn't care less if someone literarly shut Guild Wars down. As long as it barely affects their second. Guild Wars PvP is falling into a pit of who can run the most bots, and now this. This is what happens when nobody cares enough.

Edit: try to anger him enough to hit them so hard it prevents people from buying gems, that should make them care enough.

Update on the ticket:

I really am not sure the venue to go for this issue, so I hope you do not mind me borrowing a minute of your personal time. You may or may not be familiar with, but Guild Wars has been seeing a recent attack of "DDOS" attacks. I was wondering if there was anyway to address the issue or who I could go to for this issue? The only thing I can provide is that its happening to the GW1 servers and I have a lead on the player responsible. I also think they have the capability of DDoS attacking GW2 servers if they wanted. I would hope that the player's in game name would give you a list of ip addresses to use to contact him/address the issue. The Guild Wars 1 player's in game name is "__________".

You can check the in game log of "_________". You will see on 9/18/2014 he threatened to have Anets servers ddos'd and shut down. Within a short amount of time, many of the Guild Wars servers lagged out and players were disconnected.

Hi GM Kalameet!
Thank you for responding as I was not sure if this is something you would address. I want to add that at 12:40am CST 9/19/2014, another DDOS attack of the same manner occurred.

From the responses I am getting, it does look like that is the case.

So from now on, I would like it if anyone and everyone could message me times that the server crashes for them. If it is a time that I miss or lines up with a time that looks like a DDOS attack, I would like to add it to the email responses to help their investigation.

Motoko did you include in the email that you were using multiple accounts to sync r15 Hero for the past 6 months. You got very close this week and as you were 16v8ing teams and spamming local chat "LOL VIRGINS GL OUTPOST" some guy named "_______" used a $5 web booter and temporarily stopped your synced hall of heros match enough for you to restart. This is nothing compared to LizardSquad and a botnet attacking PlayNC's entire login server.

Epic fail and good job turning yourself in for syncing.

Good luck with your DDOS attacks.

I encourage you to keep doing it ^_^.

P.S. Oh and trust me, I gave them EVERYTHING they need to know

Nice to see you got a response from Kalameet. The bottom line is the longer these attacks continue the easier they become to block. Ddosing Anet servers directly is plain stupid and desperate.

More like maintaining a safe syncing environment. What's even more pathetic is how Motoko spun the situation around. GW1 has over 100 IP's. Some players DDoS the Hall of Heros IP one time causing these cheaters to restart at 0 fame. Isn't that pathetic? And they come crying to us here for support and none of us were syncing with them...
This is not a "one time" DDOS attack. A one time attack would not warrant my attention into a support ticket. But multiple instances combined with well timed verbal threats of causing a DDOS attack. Well... You get my point.

Oh and as far as support here? All I am looking for is people to provide me times of servers going offline when I am not around to experience it myself.

It sounds like you are either
A) A friend of the DDOSing player.
B) Mad that those fame syncers won't let you join them.

You are emotionally invested in your post, too emotionally invested to not have some sort of connection - otherwise you would stay silent and not comment at all.

Did you miss reading the thread in its entirety? It is one ticket with multiple DDoS attacks reported over a period of time, including any that have happened since then.

Let me know if you need further assistance with any English comprehension.

Oh, while we are on the subject of keeping Guild Wars a safe and healthy environment:

Your choice... Ectos, Zkeys, or Armbraces.
Private message me here with name/raiting or rank is easiest for me, but if you can catch me ingame, also free to do so but is harder.

Thank you!
Were you just collecting guilds to help keep them in a safe environment too? A little suspicious that you were buying guilds at the same time the champ syncers were trying to set up their collection of guilds.

I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'.

I'm exposing how you play the victim in everything.

All that happened was you were cheating Heros Ascent using multiple accounts, and Monkie stopped you for a short period of time. Again, everyone outside of Heros Ascent was not affected, and you should not be there in the first place. So why cry on guru again?
Please pay attention, it is rather annoying that I have to repeat what has been said in this thread already to you.

These attacks are affecting the game servers. I have accounts in other districts such as Kamadan that suffer lagging out as well. Yet the other half of my accounts stay online without issue. The DDoS attacks occur when Warehouse is in halls yes, but it is game wide.

Notice how Cosy was wondering what was going on as well?

Maybe after your brain is done hurting from trying to comprehend its own stupidity, you can try putting on a tinfoil hat.
