What would you say is the most rewarding profession?

Define 'rewarding'.

I play Ranger a lot because their primary attribute Expertise allows them to use pretty much every weapon reasonably well meaning they have a boatload of useful builds. They're also decent at running and farming, though I don't do much of either. You can look at it from a PvP perspective as well though I don't much care for it at this point in the game (and if I did I'd be better off making a PvP character rather than using a PvE one). What I'm saying is that to me, 'rewarding' tends to mean versatile moreso than necessarily the most effective, though that's still pretty important. I'm a fan of Ritualists too for the same reasons. In any case, we can't tell you what you find enjoyable.

Rewarding? Anyone you like. If you bought the trilogy you have enough open character slots to experiment with any number of professions some. That's the best way, find your way. There is no need to rush in this game.

I have an elementalist as my main toon but I also have every other profession too. Eles and Rits may be the easiest casters to get into right off. I took an Ele as my main cause they can also spirit spam quite well what with their huge energy point reserve while a Rit can't turn around and nuke as well. Also you can only start a Rit in Factions so if you want to start toons in Proph or NF, a Rit isn't an option there. And the super nice Rit elite you have to wait to cap until maybe midway into the game whereas you can fireball away from the beginning with an Ele.

Mesmers are more subtle so maybe later down the road. I found Necros tend to be slow if traveling with minions who usually arrive after the battle is over for me. Monks are limited in offense and though Ray of Judgement is cool as the critters get more powerful they also get smart enough to move away from it.

Warrior is nice to relax with. Less planning, more killing. Yeah warriors can be planned and be more complex but I use mine to let off steam with mainly. Part of what is enjoyable for each person.

Ranger was more fun after I learned to use Expertise better. At first I just found it frustrating cause there is a learning curve there.

Assassins are popular with a lot of people but I never got into mine that much. Preferred a classic warrior for a melee toon but again it is what a person finds enjoyable.

Most classes [besides maybe warriors] have enough build variety to be as equally rewarding and thus able to experience all content. I assume you meant rewarding as the most "fulfilling" to play and not the one that can do everything easier, overpowered, etc.

Now personally, I agree with Marty with the ranger, since Expertise makes him the jack-of-all trades of GW.
