Exchanging rare items instead of selling them

Quite a significant number of GW1 players on this forum are high end item collectors and have been for years.
I have been collecting staves and wands/scepters (Celestials) mostly over the years and I have come to a point where I can't find any of the items I want on the market.

That can have three reasons:
(1) The item doesn't exist (although it's theoretically possible)
(2) The item exists, but is on an inactive account
(3) The item exists, is on an active account but the owner doesn't want to sell it.

So, (1) and (2) are out of my hands.
As for (3): If I had a really, really rare item myself, I wouldn't want to sell it. BUT: I would possibly trade it for another item that is as rare as my own.
However, that kind of trade is not really possible through a regular SELL/BUY-thread on guru and ingame even less.

Would it make sense to maybe add a topic in the Trader's Outpost forum for trades like these?
Trades where people offer rare items and add a list of what they'd be looking for in exchange?

Example:
WTT my Celestial Staff req12 Divine HCT 20% Heal for a Celestial Staff req9-12 Fire + ectos (depending on req)
WTT my Bladed Shield req10 Tac +29HP +10vs. Fire or my Paper Fan req9 SR, HSR 20% Death HCT 10% for a req8 Katana 15^ench.

Keep in mind, those are just some random examples.

I hope I made my point clear enough and maybe some of you feel the same way. And I hope this all doesn't sound too stupid ^_^

mm Yea personally ive been preferring item vs item trades ingame for sometime allready, and i like doing em for items im after, i think its good idea but hard to do on website like this, dont see any trades rly being done but sure doubt wouldnt harm anyone if admins would add it!

trading IS selling/buying...make a thread in one of those forums.
This forum is for DISCUSSION not trading.

But it wouldn't hurt to have somewhere that people can list their tradeable items... It doesn't have to be done like an auction, or the buying section... I have a list of items that are in my possession which could be traded for other items. It would be handy to have somewhere I can let people know what they are.

I think it's a good idea.

you would be creating yet another trading site...we have one already we do not need two of them. If you want to 'trade' items you can list them in sell or buy those are your choices, we are not making a new place to do trading. This forum is for discussion ONLY. (see the guidelines listed at the top of this section).

Solution. List them in your sell threads in a new section at the bottom.
