Hi all,
Is there any rule of thumb to apply in terms of working out when a drop would sell for a lot to other players? I know that I can post in (or search) Ventari's Corner here, or use kamadan.decltype.org if I want to look up a specific item. But if I've just done a run and have an inventory full of stuff, it's not feasible to spend 60 seconds looking up each item before vendoring it. (Nor do I want to vendor something worth tens of ectos!)
I guess what I'm asking is, what is it about expensive weapons that means people are prepared to pay a lot for them? I've noticed that often the stat requirements are mentioned, but I'm not sure if Q8 weapons are generally more expensive or whether Q13s are more desirable. If I saw a Q13 weapon selling for e.g. 10e, would it be right to assume I could sell an otherwise-identical Q12 for a similar amount, or might the Q12 be vendor fodder?
And is it basically all about having a nice skin with the right stats (e.g. perfect 20/20 or 15^50 or whatever's ideal for that weapon), or are there other factors here?
Plus I'm sure I've seen some purple and even blue weapons sell for multiple ectos - what's special about those that makes them sell as valuable as golds? And why do greens very rarely appear in Ventari's Corner (considering they're "better" rarity than golds)?
Short version: Say I've just IDed a gold sword. Can I have a decent guess at whether other players will pay >10k for it?

here is a thread that will help you a bit.
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/a...t10490411.html
as for what it is folks look for? well, skin is good (there are some that are very rare and as such valuable--frog scepter, silverwing bow, celestial compass all come to mind) some stats are more desirable than others (a req 9 will usually be more valuable than a req 13, a req 8 max is always good...) and there are other factors as well.
Sorry to say its not something you can just pick up in a day or two ...but you can learn what some of the more valuable items are and keep those when you pick them up.

To make money you need to know your items value, so it is more then feasible to spend a few minutes researching sell prices of items.once you're accustomed to the market, you will know what is scrape and what is sell able.

Thanks cosyfiep - that thread's exactly the sort of thing I was looking for! Post #7 in particular gives a great set of guidelines, the sort of thing that lets me know I can confidently merch a R12 gold with "+energy while hexed", whereas it's worth price checking a 15^50 R9.
Much appreciated.
Much appreciated.

But it gives the general idea what to merch and what not.
If u somehow get q7-8 weapons and some rare oldschool staffs/wands/offhand/shiield etc in your hands, you should ask PC here on Price check forum, Prices for those are effected alot by many differend things, so they are problematic even for greatest traders here.

The thread that cosy mentioned above is the one, but look at posts 25 onwards for current info. That discussion was resurrected recently in that thread.
