Important Note : The event has ended but you are still able to get Balthazar weaponry outside the Great Temple of Balthazar at the vendors near the Zaishen Chest.
You can acquire a Blessings of War token after every 25 subsequent Zaishen Chest openings, with the Zaishen Key as well as the 5 proofs of Legends traded to the ancient weapons npc in embark beach.
Update - Monday, April 23, 2015
Fixed a bug that caused Balthazar set Rods, Shields and Focuses to not accept some upgrade items.

GW 10th Anniversary Discussion Thread.

My thoughts on this is that I saw it coming. Actually I had my hopes super low. I was hoping for a sale in their store. That was it. I wasn't even hoping for any celebration etc. Every year people are surprised that they don't give a shit, it's been like 2 years+. We should all be used to the game being left to die now.
I felt this was about to happen too, but its the kind of milestone you would not expect them to drop the ball marketing-wise and the GW2 community could benefit from aswell with their own party in their own worldspace..
Its like giving you're girlfriend on your 10th year anniversary a coupon for a local bar'n'grill that has expired v_v

Yes it is, and it sucks. I think it's a big shame, honestly. I wish that they cared enough, but honestly I feel like there must be some kind of reason they wont interact with their Guild Wars players, wont answer questions, wont update(besides emergency updates), it's like someone a little higher up told them absolutely no work on GW or the players is allowed anymore. Or, quite simply, the guy running ANet now thinks GW is a shitstain and he just wants to get it off.
well, i dont think its the same this time, as its the 10th anniversary, and even anet could've been nice enough THIS TIME to give us at least something
hell, let all event drops drop with 4x drop rate, its only once in 10 years
and why dont you people stop saying stuff like "left to die"? cuz the game isnt dying, for every person i see leave GW, i see 10 new ones coming, and most of them stay
sure, its not as populated as years ago, but is a person who gets 8000 euro (i live in europe) a month poor, only cuz there's people with way higher income? (at least where i live)
anyway, i'm just gonna enjoy my time and make the best of it
the game is far from dying with newbies who join, and people who return from their nightmare called GW2

As was already said, nobody should have been surprised by this.
not surprised at all. and still disappointed at their lack of caring---they COULD do something to get people wanting to play (and those that have not yet BUY), but they dropped that ball too.
They could have had something like the farewell to Gaile (heck that code is still around, a few minor tweaks and they could have just injected that).
I was hoping for new birthday gift cards--so you could get some of the rare minipets (not the birthday ones) (and make them non-transferable, one time only etc...like the tormented weapons for the wayfair).
but NOOOOO, we get the same s*&$ different year (kinda like opening the same christmas gifts every year, gee thanks I already had those, oh because these are the ones from last year that you just wrapped up again, that explains it-----)
Shame anet, shame.

Because they made certain items to be limited and more rare than the average one. They did that with naga oni shiroken zhed and vizu and then added them to yr 7 gifts and now they are worthless. Would be a shame for that to happen to panda ig and kanaxai too. 3 of the last 4 very rare minis. They were meant to be a reward for something special a long time ago. And that hasn't changed and shouldn't.
Well, if they made those untradeable like the mini Legionnaire, it would make the cooler minis better accessible for the "mainstream" people. (Hint : great move to get more people to play gw, which shud be their goal)
That does not have to be a bad thing, because now only the 1% is able to get their hands on them, leaving the rest of the people only to watch them walk on a distance.
(only 1 kanaxai is for sale atm, two others at their owner)
Would it ruin their value?, yes it will.
Would it have dramatic effects?, no, because only 1% of the people have only one (or two) of those mini's that average people rarely get too see anyway.
Edit : it would have a far less of an impact too the market like Shadow Form did too Ecto's post 2007, even to this day and many "nerfs" later.

By that logic though, anet should give everyone customized crystalline swords and voltaic spears and magmas shields too. Why stop at mini pets? Let's do rare skin weapons too because maybe then more people will play.
But really, my point in posting was just that it's ok for 0.01% of the items in gw to be unattainable. 99.99% of them are. It gives people goals and motivation. I'd bet the average gw player would benefit much more from year 10 bday gifts containing enough sweets to Max sweet tooth or 1 million luxon/kurzick points, or 2500 tournament RPs so they can get a trim, etc, than they would from some minipet that is customized to them.
Anyways. I do hope anet does something cute for year 10 but I'm not holding my breath. I just hope it doesn't destroy the value of the last 3 rare things in gw. That's all.

I like how you're discussing "elitism" in a 10 (in fact, 13) years old game... Reminds me of 2k15 "PvP'ers" who have jumped in at the 2009 PvP downfall, and yet think they grasped something well, except for starting 5+ windows of alts...
As for the suggestions presented here, the problem about most of them is that they're way too complicated. I'd personally choose something like Pink Day in LA as design template if we came to the idea of modifying item contents on the traders (that is, introducing only a single additional item per NPC).

geez sorry I even brought it up (though there are like 2 pandas still ingame? the rest are on banned accounts??? so what real harm would it do--the economy was jacked years ago--not that they care about that anymore anyways-------).
I just thought it would be nice to give something special to those of us who have been around long enough to remember when there was just prophecies----------
and yeah, I have a better chance of being elected president of the usa than we do of seeing something 'new' for the 10th year (and bytheway--I am old enough to be president and was born in the usa so I could run and be elected
)

But still atleast something unique like a new skin, as they did with Wintersday weapons, and Wayfarers Reverie minipet and tonic.
This along with what you said of things people find more useable to use, would be far more of a thank you too us then we get now dont you agree?

Alright these 3 minis would not be viable for this because they already are there with the value it carries.

And cosy, yeah it sucks that most of them are gone. But they were rare back in 2007 too. Sure there may have been 40x as many of them around, but there were probably 40x as many players too. There were ~200 pandas and now there is roughly 5 - so a factor of 40 less is how i came up with those numbers. So roughly the same per gw player.

Mini Kanaxai:
Available to asian players through a tournament that's now gone. Available to winners of two art contests years ago. Not available through ingame play; never was for non-asians.
Mini Island Guardian:
More exclusives only to asian players (noticing a bit of a racist trend here, ArenaNet!) and through more contests. Not available through ingame play; never was for non-asians.
Mini Panda:
Yet another mini that was only available to asian players and contests that were not even part of ingame play.
So no, the logic doesn't hold through from one case to the other. The extremely rare minis you want to keep rare so much were not acquired through playing the game but through winning one-time contests, or living in Japan or the Republic of China. I don't know about you but I consider that a very poorly chosen way to introduce an item to the game.
