Question about ascension
Happy Muffin
So I'm ascending all my 10 chars and I'm wondering if it's possible to ascend a factions char by completing the desert missions or by completing hunted! I'm also wondering if you can ascend proph by doing hunted or nahpui quarter etc. or a nf by doing desert missions or nahpui.

Can't say from personal experience as I've always completed a character's native campaign before heading abroad, but wiki says that any character can ascend via the desert or Nahpui, and that only Elonians can "ascend" via Hunted!

Role-playing characters cannot change freely between secondary professions until they have Ascended (Prophecies), become Weh no Su (Factions) or completed the quest Hunted! (Nightfall). Doing the Hunted! quest only qualifies native Elonians.

To enter a realm (of the Gods), all the following conditions must be met:
1. All members of the party must be Ascended or Weh no Su, or must have completed the "Hunted!" quest (although the latter only works for Nightfall characters). |

Just as the quotes say:
NF is not possible for non-NF characters. But I think it ispossible to do the factions Weh No Su on a Prophecies Character. I have a vague memory that I've done that before.

^ Yes totally to the above post by Gentleman Xander.
All EIGHT of my Proph characters "ascended" in Factions (Closer to the Stars or Weh no Su if you will). So that's a total yes from someone who has done it all the time.
It is so much much quicker and easier to do Proph characters that way via Factions version of ascension. Just hop ship to KC from Lion's Arch and do couple of easy main missions and bang, you are ascended easy peasy. No having to do all 4 desert missions before Augery Rock plus couple other on the way to desert even with the shortcut of skipping the wilderness areas in Proph.
Proph was like a rough draft with lots of missteps of annoyance that got corrected as Factions and Nightfall came along. Waiting forever to ascend was one of the missteps as far as I'm concerned. Factions fixed that up nicely.
And yes Nightfall characters can not "ascend" or grow "closer to the stars" but automatically get the same thing after "Hunted" (which is easier anyway ... the easiest of the three versions). But no Proph or Factions character can get that through doing "Hunted". Nightfall characters are the only ones.

But you also have to remember this: the 2 15 point attribute quests are only available for the native campaign. So proph characters that forgo the desert quests and ascension will always be 30 points short. If all you want is to farm the UW and FoW, make a factions character for that.

I came back and got all the attribute points for my Proph characters after Closer to the Stars cause 30 attribute points is a good thing. :-)
I just like skipping around campaigns anyway. The stories are the same old lame stuff you get in most RPGs so I didn't care abut the storylines. Just needed to get all the secondaries first then attribute points.

1 good point of prophecies ascending would be free to switch core 2ndary profs, but thats about it
i used to do it, but no longer need to, although its fun doing proph sidequests sometimes (heck, i am gonna do them one day on HM, for fun)
and gadd fan, did you say NF chars cant be ascended or closer to the stars? cuz i think they can....

(Weird thing about NF I always found is that there is never an announcement that secondaries are now open and rescuing Koss would seem like a small connecting quest to a new person so I imagine there are many a new person who had their secondaries opened and never knew it until way later).
Now NF characters can do Augury Rock and Nahpui Quarter missions of course but those don't open up the secondaries for them, just another mission. So they "ascend" and grow "closer to the stars" but that means nothing other than the storyline importance of those acts.
If they can open them up I stand corrected. I never heard that before. But makes no sense to do it that way when it takes like a half hour of play on the NF mainland to get the secondaries opened.
