The true traditionalists' meaning of OS (OldSchool) is pre-nerf, meaning it cannot drop anymore. This was because shortly after the release of Factions, certain items and mods were removed from the game. These removed items were referred to as OldSchool, as new drop combinations had replaced them.
The confusion came about because the removed items were non-inscribable. And when inscribable items were released, the meaning of OS gradually came to mean all non-inscribable items. This was a dilution of the original meaning, and has now become widely used to mean anything non-inscribable.
Call me a traditionalist, but to me, OldSchool will only ever mean those pre-nerf items which can no longer drop. Most of you know that I collect those items.
