event start and end

ok, it may sound weird, but IF they DO look at these forums, i rather suggest this here and now
i would love to see the events at least start at friday, and end at monday.
not the next monday coming, but the week after
why? so that (almost) everyone can at least enjoy the events the whole weekends, cuz people work, and most people are free from work at saturdays and sundays
so starts at fridays (same time for all i care), then goes on through the next week, then ends AFTER the 2nd weekend at mondays
maybe not all events have 2 weeks or so, but at least we have 2 whole weekends we can use for the events
PLUS.... all of the major (or just all of them) events being AT LEAST 2 weeks
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Special_event
wintersday and halloween have it already, but the rest dont

not all people have weekends off. LOTS of people have to work on weekends and have time during the week to play. The way they have it set now allows a full week (weekend plus extra days) so that there is at least time for people to get to events if they have time off that week.
/not signed.
(they used to do events that way, but when they automated they changed it to a set date that it starts and ends--so they dont have to figure out is the 22nd a friday???)

hahaha.... i said MOST people have weekends off
so not signed cuz i like to let it go through 2 weekends at least?
i find it a weird reason, as most people are online in weekends, plus this would be longer events
i dont see how its counting people who work at weekends
as i said (in case you'd misunderstand) friday it starts, sat, sun, mon, tues, wed, thurs, fri, sat, sun, mon, end
now it starts at saturday an stops at saturdays, so mine is longer, cuz they'd need to pick the friday BEFORE the now set saturday, and the monday AFTER the set saturday
its longer events, why the fluke not signed?

The question is: how would you know it's Friday exactly, regardless of month/year associated? Not sure it's possible without considerable adjustments within the game's existing events code.
Alternatively, it could start on Fridays & finish on them too, one week after.

since the 'live team' (hahahaa) has limited resources, I would rather them work on other things that the start and end time of events....also in the past they have messed up MANY of these (some didnt start, others ended too soon), so why mess something up?
and the way it is now its very easy to look at your calender and KNOW that on the 18th of Month the event will start and on the 25th of Month it will end without having to know if that is a friday---much easier than going...well on the 24th of month its a friday and the next year its the 22nd of that month that is a friday-----
much easier to keep track of it this way, and sometimes it will end and start with 2 full weekends in it.
(edit would also like to add, I cant count the times I have heard 'dang, I am going to be out that weekend, wish the event ran thru the week when I am going to be off---' or something along those lines....since events usually coincide with holidays, a few people do have a few extra days off --and the weekends then are spent with friends and family, so they have time off DURING the week before or after said holiday and wish that events would include more week days so they could play when they were available instead of the weekends when they would be away taking part of RL festivities).

no, ending on fridays destroys the fun for the biggest part of GW's playerbase who play mostly in the weekends
and coding like that is easy as taking a dump, really
they can do it easily, they showed us many times, they just need to set the dates, and unless they screw it up, its easy to do it for upcoming 20 years or so
it has nothing to do with what days it starts at, but at what dates they start and end at
again cosy: its 3 days longer, so noone can complain
now its this (1 week example):
sat,sun,mon,tues,wed,thurs,fri,sat
i'd like to see it changed a bit to:
fri,sat,sun,mon,tues,wed,thurs,fri,sat,sun,mon
starting at friday, ending at monday, as i said
bolded parts are the new days
2 whole weekends of fun
so why would people complain like "dammit, that weekend i go out" if they have a total of 3 days (2nd half of friday as start, 1st half of monday as end) they get?
whats bad about having 3 MORE days??
i still dont get it, so please try to explain
they can choose to have it normal, or with 3 days longer, even if they arent online, it'd be nicer to have it longer
we have a few events lasting less than a week, dont we? like april fools day, which is 1 day
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/April_Fools%27_Day
"from April 1, 07:01, to April 2, 07:01 UTC"
so they arent just able to set from 1 day to next same day (same weekday)
the "Breast Cancer Awareness Month" is whole october, and october doesnt start and end at same weekday
i still see no problem if all they gotta do is set it a bit so we have whole weekends and maybe a little longer (maybe every week "special event" being 2 weeks "special event")
setting the events from scratch took them way longer than it would when just changing a few days, which would be done in no time
and resources? do you think it'd cost em money just to change something?
even if it does cost a bit (wouldnt be much, as GW is cheap and easy to keep online, as they said before), they make more every month from even just GW than what it'd cost to set a few days for each year..... but i doubt it cost money, cuz its set in the game already
besides, the balthazar weapons added costs more than setting a few days for each year, and they were able to
i know they have the skins in GW2, but it still takes a bit to convert them into GW1 coding, and put them in, and then the npc's having them, plus a new bonus "while an event is going on" to the decade weapons
thats more work than just setting some days
imagine a calendar, setting all events on the days, now they only need to change it backward (friday instead of saturday) and forward (monday instead of saturday)
the events are linked to them already, so they just would need to set em a bit and done

heck why not just let events run for a whole month then? Or lets change the date of christmas so that is always on a friday? I think we were lucky enough of getting the events to run a week, now you want even more..before they were just a weekend; now they are a week.
Breast cancer month is set to start on a date (oct 1st)--which is how the events run now, they start on a set date every year--and that is not always a Friday!. For example, the anniversary celebration starts on the 22nd of April and ends on the 6th of May --no day of the week is specified. In the following years it may start on a monday, it may start on a tuesday or wednesday, whatever day the 22nd of April is is when it starts; just like christmas is always on the 25th of December.
What you are asking is that ALL events start on a friday and end on a tuesday? THAT would be a bit of work. We used to have floating events, they ended that when they went to maintenance mode to make it easier (ok so they would not have to change things from year to year). What you are asking is for them to change back to that system, and add 3 more days to events, now 10 days instead of 7 (which was an increase from 3).
I have no issues with making events longer, but making them always start on friday is where I disagree.
and yes, it does cost resources to change the code that sets the dates. SomeONE has to do it. It just doesnt happen by itself.

why not remove the section to make suggestions if what i get is "we're lucky enough having a few updates, so shut up" ???
also cosy, i said end on MONDAY, 2nd half of monday (at least here)
someone has to do it, but i doubt it would cost money for every little thing they do
start on friday and end on monday, why is that wrong cosy?? explain why!!! its a little longer and those who work until weekend have their weekend
plus, its a BIT longer
start on friday is good for the majority of the community thats left
i still see 0 problems
its a small thing to do, and not every single action cost them money, its the same anet working on GW2 now, so getting paid for them is the same if they do it in the same time
wow, wtf am i still doing here (aside from trade stuff)??
i wont ever use the suggestion section anymore, if all i get is "its a bad thing cuz they have to do something" and "be happy with what we have" then the suggestion part is useless, remove it..... else its there for nothing
i yet have to see 1 bad point about this
asking something from anet here is attracting people who dont care or dont like (hell knows why), and making it sound as if a suggestion they dont like or care about is bad
geez, i quit, farewell suggestion section
ps. someone suggested it and alot more on the facebook page, glad noone badmouthed people there... *END*

There's one thing in your suggestion which I haven't yet exactly understood. Let's say the event starts on Friday and goes through the whole next week to end on Monday. The obscure part is: what will commence on that day if the next bonus is also supposed to activate no earlier than Friday? What about these 4 days left in-between?..
cosyfiep
suggestions are just that suggestions, not everyone is going to agree with you---and from your history here on guru, I can understand why no one else has posted.
I do not agree with events starting on fridays because I know loads of people who work weekends and would otherwise be unhappy with not getting to play when the events are going on--they were thrilled when the events were lengthened to a whole week. The way they have it now allows most people to at least get to play some of the event.
They changed the coding on the events to start on a date--to make it easier for the events to run themselves, coding it to a day of the week is not that easy and would require more than just inputting a number (april 22, oct 1, etc), that is asking a lot of the small team left to do. Lengthening the event to 10 is fine just leave it at that and not ask for the friday start time.

cosyyyyyy, listen to this: its days added, so even if they cant play in weekends, its still good for so many who do not work at weekends
again:
now its: sa,su,mo,tu,we,thu,fri,sa
then it'll be: (from 17:00 UTC)fri,sa,su,mo,tu,we,thu,fri,sa,su,mo (until 17:00 UTC)
so the people who work at weekends wont have AS MUCH time, but still a little more when they get home until the last monday 17:00 UTC, than what they have now
and again: even though you know many who work at weekends, most others do not work at weekends
and thx for telling me how you think about me by saying
"from your history here on guru"
oh well, i guess on this "elite" (elitism if you ask me, thinking many know everything better than those who have other points of view, and calling them, bad opinions etc.) site, you may not have a different kind of opinion and reason
whasts so BAD about adding a few days this way?
if they wont, it stays as it is, otherwise they add like 3 whole days to make it start earlier and end later
at least the people working in weekends have an evening/night to enjoy the events on those days.... and if they dont, then the rest of GW (huge part) will be able to enjoy it more as they dont work at weekends
or is it that YOU work weekends, and dont like people who dont work then get a little more time? either way, its no good reason as far as i can see
the "/notsigned" sounds like "me/the people working then, should have more time, instead of the ones not working at weekends"
..... seriously, the people working on weekends get no less days, so wtf is the REAL problem here??
and so what if they just have to change a bit? they make people playing their game happier and make their game more attractive this way, giving them a bit better name
EDIT: so in other words, people who do work weekends have NO LESS event time
