The Beak of Darkness question

I don't really have any characters on GW1 that are rangers, do I absolutely HAVE to be in a ranger in order to charm a Black Moa?
Or can I have a ranger hero like Pyre Fierceshot charm the animal since he has the skill?

you can change ur secondary profession to ranger and charm pets

Yes, you don't have to be a Ranger. You can be any profession with a Ranger secondary profession and still be able to charm the pet, or you can have a hero charm the pet.

This applies to every animal companion in the game. As long as you have the skill "Charm Animal" then you can charm the animal companion.

What they said above. By the time you get to that part of Factions you can already buy any secondary (or all of them like most people do) at Senji's Corner. Just flip over to the Ranger secondary and put the charm animal skill in one slot and you are good to go.

If you are going to charm the black moa instead of killing it, remember to flag you heroes well away from it. It will fight back, and if they are too close they will kill it.
