Sheild damage reduction

I found a shield with the mod:

Received damage -2 (Chance: 6%)

What does the "6% Chance" mean? That the damage is only reduced 6% of the time?? Also, does the -2 damage apply to all attacks or just physical? Does it apply to curses which give you health degen?

Theres a 6% chance for you to get -2 dmg. I'm pretty sure it's all attacks and I don't think it will take off 2 of your health degen.

yes 6% of the time. it applies to all attacks, including holy, chaos, and elemental.
