I think (and have thought for a long time) it would be great if Gameforge took over GW. Since Aion was picked up by Gameforge, it's grown and (I feel) has become a much better game.
Gw1 hasn't seen much support over the past few years, and i'm sure some new areas could be introduced plus more missions/quests, something NC seem unconcerned about. Ok...so Guild Wars is an old game (I've been playing since 2007) but there's still a lot of people log on every day, and still new players trying it out. If NC could care less about the people who have played their game and the ones who still do, then for 2016 they could do the right thing and give it to someone who will do something new with it.
(PS. GW2 is a load of old tosh)

1. arenanet is the team that is behind GW (and GW2), ncsoft is for the servers and such
2. i rather keep it this way if it otherwise means selling to another, as they may screw up GW, as they have no idea what they are working on
GW is 1 of a kind game, its not a normal MMORPG, its based on completely different points
the old anet is the only one who knows how GW goes, community wise and gameplay wise, but they have left the game
if they'd find some people who'd listen to the fans who do like to play the game, instead of saying the game should only get harder for everyone, cuz they completed it (making newbies suffer), then they could give us smaller stuff, instead of changing the game and make it so only veterans (which i also belong to) can play it well
thats especially the case since they would update the game, and so let people buy GW, meaning a lot of newbies will join, meaning they need a good start to both NM and HM
i doubt any other company would listen better than anet2 does nowadays to the non-hardcore fans (those who are done with the game, and wait for them to make everything harder and harder, in this case)
new skins and such would do, small ideas which wouldnt hurt most other players would do, but thats it
i have seen plenty of suggestions on the facebook page of GW, and seen here several ones, and they would never harm anyone
ps. if you think some stuff would make the game easier, play without any equipment upgrades and use no consumables at all.... and dont infuse armor :P

I can understand you being concerned about someone messing the game up, but I think it would be safe in Gameforge's hands. I only recently went back to Aion, (which i thought was overly difficult with too much emphasis on PVP before) and they've made great improvements and still have a fairly large user base.
Whatever happens, I think Anet/NC (whoever) are never going to try to resurrect GW, so if it's going to find an audience anywhere near the one it had years ago or even survive much longer, then it needs a new pair of hands at the helm. I've seen too many games abandoned because they've had little or no support, and I think GW is too good a game to lose. I'd hate to see it go.
It really needs something to attract both new players and tempt back some of the old ones. In pre, everyone seems to stand around talking or doing pointless Charr runs, and throughout the rest of the game players are either trying to get H.O.M points (which was a waste of time really, as the GW2 rewards were rubbish) or going over and over the same old ground trying to get items from chests etc. It really needs something new added to it desperately.

thats why i wanna see the smaller suggestions, and no changes that may destroy the fun for many others (aside from boting and goldselling)
but yeah, aside from new beyond and such, what else would they do IF they'd wake up with GW?
they have only done easier stuff lately (i am grateful), so they dont need to use much money (which GW2 seems to give them enough)

Well i'll leave the debate there, but my final word is that I still doubt they'll keep the servers open for such a small amount of players forever. The money they make from the GW shop compared to the running and maintainence of the servers is small, and continuing this is just bad business.
Without more expansions, upgrades and storylines,it can't go on indefinitely.
City of Heroes,Tabula Rasa and many more all went the same way.

What I hope to see for the end of 2016:
My gw account: maxing luck, unluck, chesthunter titles *.* glad9 and hero11
On guru: re-opening my service thread.
PvX: Since there aren't much players anymore, and this game is named guild wars, increase the number of guilds allowed in a single alliance up to 30.
A gamer arena opened all year and not only during events.
And new set of weapons of curse, but we recently got the balthazar's weapon set so I'm good with them for now.
PvE: mostly are dreams
1) uhmmm maibe a score time for each completed dungeon/elite area and monthly rewards for the best times.
2) Minipets that pick up drops
PvP:
Banning cheaters seems impossible so... I want to see removed codex arena for teams only and replaced with a new arena : random codex arena
But the most important thing i want to see: GUNS. I want GUNS and summoning turrets like spirits.

Gameforge? A fairly controversial proposition if you'll look at OGame, their very first title, where most of essential & highly-demanded features weren't considered for addition in time lapses exceeding few years, with it lasting as long as it does only because Alexander Rösner is a very talented game designer and he shaped it really well back to 2005, but aside from that, I'd be rather uncertain regarding their present capacity of introducing proper changes to the project with such depth and conjunct worldwide acclaim in both competitive and role-playing fields Guild Wars has.

Take a look at Aion sometime and you may be surprised at what other companies can do.And for NOVE,they have a Gunner class too.
Gameforge was only used as an example, and you can't judge them on an old game. Really,it could be anyone at the helm. I read recently that there were more expansions planned for GW until they decided to bring out GW2.
Maybe someone could take the project up in the future.
My fellow GW players were always against change, then they all left because the game never changed. Not all changes have to be bad.

I would like to see some sort of a skill update for many unusable and forgotten skills, maybe add new skill-sets to each class, otherwise the late professions are a bit underwhelmed by versatility. Also some sort of diversity added to the Paragon class would be a really cool addition. And one thing that will never happen would be a reworked AI for the mobs (attack patterns, skill usage, pathing). I really like the GW Beyond missions, but somewhat butchering trough tons of monsters does not cut it for me. It would be nicer if the monsters were a bit smarter and less predictable.
So yeah, in short:

So yeah, in short:
- New / reworked skills
- Make Paragons more entertaining
- Improve / Change the AI of mobs
