hey!
Just came back after about 6month break due to some personal reasons and I see that ectos have gone up in price quite significantly ~25% since I last played. As a main driving factor of GW economy would it be safe to assume that the prices will only continue to increase? I guess people are no longer doing extensive UWSC (at least from what I have seen in world chat and outposts) and have all shifted towards DoA, FoW or EotN dungeons. Consequently there is noone taking care of the supply of the ectos. I honestly can't imagine what could bring the price of this rare material down. Only thing that might shift the price would be people realizing that we need to farm uw more. But that its quite expensive with all the cons you need and will likely won't be as popular as it used to be.
Any thoughts, ideas?

prices (of rare items) will continue to increase, not the ecto price.
ecto have been fluctuating around 10-12k pretty constantly over the past years.
nobody needs to take care of ecto supply there are just soo many in the game, actually the only thing that 'consumes' ecto are obby armor and chaos gloves so i would say more are getting farmed than used for these

Ectos will continue to raise until next banwaves, which happened last year several time during the first months of 2015.

Cosy, the links are good, but the market has changed greatly in the past 4 years. The player activity is playing a huge role here. As I see it, the less players will be playing, the higher the cost of ectos. Previously considered rare skins like elemental sword, raven staff etc. is selling for cents, where the very rare (like frog, bds) will stay as they are and the legendary items like crystaline sword will only increase in price. Some are overarmed and some are simply not dropping enough anymore. Thus the ectos will be more expensive, since you will need much more to begin trading with. Of course there is a different market for consumables, but I believe that that is very closely related to the amount of speed clears done. And the less speed clears are being done, the less of the cons will be on the market and the more their price will increase. <- this is all just my observation of the guild wars trade in the past couple of years. But what I am really interested whether it is true, that the ecto price will only rise.
In one of the previous links some guy mentioned that the ecto price is going down before some major events when players want some more liquidity for the tickets or other stuff. However, I kinda don't see that happening anymore as well, as everyone is getting an overkill of gold from zaishen quests.

as I stated, the threads are old--but the information is still useful (and in some cases still relevant).
I did notice that prices went down--they were down to 9k, went up to 14k and now are back around 11k all in the last few months, they do fluctuate with the influx of people playing around holidays and such....been noticing it for the last few years actually.
