I am an Elementalist. I was wondering, which second profession do you think is the best? Please vote! Thanks.

Although I have just started my first ele, I'm finding Mesmer skills to be quite complementary...

Why is Monk so good combined with Elementalist?

mesmer FTW!
Arcane Echo is a good skills to take with most ele builds. Also mantra of resolve is a good one to stop all those nasty interupts. You can strip enchants and actually gain energy, and u can also slow down targets so that they cant run from your firestorms and maelstroms.

Depending on how you play, your secondary profession will either server you well or sit there gathering dust out of misuse or lack of use.

I choose monk for healing spells.
But I would say ranger or mesmer are nice secondary.

Monk. I've almost always gone with /Mo secondary on my E/ mainly for Rebirth or Vengeance to prevent full-party wipes.

Some people prefer /Me for Echo+Arcane Echo, but I find that Glyph of Renewal works just as well (and you don't have to change to /Me secondary, so you can have both a reusable "rez" skill and throw out large amounts of damage at once).

Mesmer!!!

cuz it has lots of different functions, in pve i use it for energy management, in pvp only to stop interrupts.

Monk. Because you can get Unlimited res.

Mesmer is second because you can subvert things in your favor (energy!, hexes).

I like Necro but not as secondary. It seems many of the skills are not quite as effective with not enough attributes in them. For example, death magic minions. You want 15 to 16 death magic to be effective with minions. For blood you want 15 or 16 blood so that your attacks will actually do decent damage/healthstealing. Curses is probably somehting you can integrate with other classes (especially weapon based like ranger and warrior).

Ranger nnd Warrior is just about the crappiest ones for secondary, because you have to use a bow/pet/weapon to be effectvie with these two classes as secondary.

So I assume Elementalist combined with a Monk as a second profession in PvE is the best way?

I would, personally. You can handle energy without going E/Me (Ether Prodigy, Glyph of Energy, attunements). /Mo gives you the hard res skill (as said before) - and you will need it in PvE if you end up joining a terrible group. E/Mo isn't the best idea for areas with very heavy interrupts (ruins of the Tomb of the Primeval Kings) since you lose the ability to use Mantra of Resolve.

Anything works in PvE, though. Experiment and see what you like.

I chose monk, bc for an ele, lets be honest, they arent tanks and there are not a lot of ele healing skills

For an Elementalist in PvE, E/Me would be the most effective for a usual damage-dealer such as the Fire Nuker. As mentioned, Arcane Echo and Echo {E} are great for using with high damaging spells such as Meteor Shower. Also Mesmer is very versatile, you can add in some Health Degeneration, some spells to make your foes damage themselves(Empathy, Backfire, etc), energy stealing with Inspiration Magic, and some self-defense with Distortion. E/Mo is a good choice, but doesn't have the offensive capabilities and opportunities that an E/Me would.

Certainly it's memser or monk. And actually, come to think about it, these 2 professions are the most common professions to take as secondary. Especially in PvP for all non-warrior professions. (most common warrior profession in pvp would have to be the W/E)

i vote mesmer. you can have that woundeful skill Arcane acho, it lets you use twice a skill (without waitingfor recharge) from your choise

but monk is good in general, cuz you have lots of energy, for self healing, but once you learn that ele has a few good self healing skill.....but youre not a tank, ele normally stays in back and nukes, so you need to self heal only in emergency. but echo....hehe.... makes you cast the best spell syou got twice in a row
