Like all others though, the human wins the tie and the doppel dies ascended

First person in Guild Wars history to beat my doppleganger with my warrior/ele only with hammer. I didn't bring any skills or even heal signet. I just smash away till that sucker died!

thats what u supposed to do, he uses axe, u use hammer, if u get the 1st hit then his butts going down

I'm only ascended with my ranger, and it was TOO easy, I brought 8 spirits and my best bow.
He uses all the spirits, and after the 6th spirit I killed him (within time bonus, without losing any damage or energy)

First Ascended (but not first character) was a W/R. She wields a sword though she's tried a Mursaat hammer (wicked looking things!).
Cutscene to dopple, full skill bar of sword skills and comfort/charm animal. Sliced, diced and pureed her to ribbons with swordplay as she insisted trying to use my skills with her *axe* . Far less than 10 seconds later, I was doing a victory dance and the cats were hiding under the desk thinking I'd flipped out.

My funniest experience wasn't from the Dopplegagner itself, but shortly after.
I almost entered the Dragon's Lair right after as a full Dominantion Me/N with Backfire, Empathy and the rest Necro sacrifices.

Recently did it with my Mo/R. Took a few smites... and a few spirits.
He likes spirits.
A lot.
I smote him.

Mr Sly
i did it with one of each character (w,m,n,me,r,e) most at lvl 15ish, and i have to say, monk was the harderst, i think i brought useless enchantments and i just smited him to death, it was hard though,
Mister Overhill
Took it on the first try with my two r/mos and e/mo, so when my n/e daughter got to that point I thought, "This will be a snap". I had read the necro advice info, so I just told her to take some sacrifice health and useless corpse spells and just dodge arrows and watch it die. But it didn't. Now, my youngest daughter isn't long on patience, and the more she tried and died the madder she got. Finally, after a series of oaths and a death wish on the game devs, she went off with her friends and let me try.
I had taken a necro (my infamous Auntie Acid) up to the last ascension mission before deleting her, so I figured I could handle it. Right. I couldn't do it either, no matter what I tried. Now, my daughter hadn't gotten many elementalist skills, so I hopped around the map buying flare, immolate, and a couple of other fire spells (figured she could use them in the long run), and even trekked all the way from LA to the Ascalon Settlement to pick up meteor shower. That was the charm . Dropped that sucker on its head and ran up and cooked it in its shell first time out. Too bad my daughter missed the cut scene, but she seemed happy enough when I called her on her cell phone with the news.

I had such a difficult time with my characters against the doppleganger..
My first character (who I did all the missions with so no rushing) took it 20 times to beat the doppleganger (at level 20) and when I ended up killing him we both died.. but because he died 1 sec earlier I still made it.
My Warrior was a whole other story.. that took me about 14 tries at lvl 13.. after I finally found out how to do it.. Final trust FTW!
And my monk was just annoying.. I even let a friend of me try numerous times.. i got so pissed off because nothing worked.. I eventually got it after god knows how many times.. I was cursing the whole time in Guildchat.. and when I made it I just screamed of happiness.. (was on Skype as well lol)

My first time on ranger it was impossible the first few tries because i was trying to fit all the advice coming through guild chat into one build.. which failed horribly. In the end i just changed back to my normal build and for some reason he just stood there recasting mending on himself about 7 times instead of attacking so i kinda beat him

By far the funniest was my necro. I just took in all kinds of sacrifice skills and vampiric gaze and he started sacrificing himself to death ( I believe with order of the vampire ) .I had to hit gaze about twice I think and he dropped dead.
Ranger is also funny : equip quickening zephyr and run into melee-range ( he'll pull an axe or hammer or sword ) hit him with all kinds of bow attacks ( for a laugh : use ignite arrows and dual shot ) and he'll drop in about 15 seconds - or even less . Once the doppel even dropped a hammer for me - hadn't had loot before . It tuned out to be a very "below-par" hammer which I sold for 20 gold at weapons guy

Took me a while to figure it out with my first character, a Ranger. When I finally did beat him, all I took was a short bow, Ignite Arrows and Dodge. Hit dodge, and ran into melee range - he switched to axe and I blew him to bits in short order. With my Warrior, again - easy as pie: took all sword skills, rushed him, he switched to Axe and buh-bye Doppleganger. I had the hardest time with my Monk, don't remember how i did that 1.
On my Mezmer, I had a tough time because the doppleganger beat me to the punch on casting backfire (He's half way through casting when the screen finally loaded, the cheater!) So, I had to wait for it to run out and then cast it on him - he kept casting and promptly fell over dead. The key was to take spells that didn't cause much damage other than backfire.

I have a funny story... I beat him first try every time! Even the 3 times i did it with a lvl 3!
HAHAHAHA
But no...really...One time I had him glitch and run up a wall....does that count?

I just had my first Doppleganger fight, and it was over so fast I was still getting oriented, making it anticlimactic.
I went with a full bar of two skills, but only two seemed to matter.
1. I cast Backfire on him.
2. He spammed Ice Spear.
Needless to say, Domination was maxed out, but I had 0 attribute points in Water Magic.
Subtle points of the build:
A. Ice Spear has lower minimum damage than Flare or Stone Daggers.
B. I tried to take only low cost/fast recharge spells, Backfire excepted. (Well, I took Arcane Echo too, but I didn't need to.)
C. I maxed out Energy Storage, so that he could cast all the spells he wanted to.
But the fight wasn't really subtle at all.

i was told doppleganger was real hard using mesmer so i brought energy burn only and owned him
Sledge
Heh, it was with my "main" norman.
W/R and I loaded all my traps, pet attacks(no pet), and 1 sword skill.
I brought my best purple weapon.
Doppleganger brought a bow. Huh?

Recently i got my mesmer ascended. It was actually quite a sad fight against the doppleganger. Basically, all i did was load up on 4 useless hexes, ones that would not have any huge detriment to me... Then stacked up on Domination using the skills, Backire, Shatter Hex, and Empathy.
Straight off the block i casted backfire on the poor soul. He just starts casting the harmless hexes which of course does huge dmg to himself. After 3 or 4 casted hexes he uses self heal, (ether feast) which hardly helps him. He then runs up to me as i caste empathy on him. Now with about 1/4 life left, he starts hacking at me, which hurts him every swing. The killing blow was when i use Shatter Hex on myself which also does uber dmg to him, followed by death.
This elaborate, yet simple, setup got me the kill in 16 seconds exactly. It was VERY funny to watch, yet sad at the same time... lol Bonus for ME!!!!

I had quite a significant amount of trouble beating the doppelganger with my Ranger before I figured out the trick with the spirits. On my second character, a W/Mo, I just ran up to it with a sword and hacked it to death in under 10 seconds. I was really surprised how easy it was the second time...
I pwnd U
first time i fought him i owned him w/ my lvl 19 w/r. when i fought him w/ my ranger i just took spirits. he crapped out spirits whiel i ownd him. w/ my Mo/W i beat him but died and it sent me back to the outpost w/o letting me go to Dragons Lair. i beat him easily the next time.
Caged Fury
I was playing my warrior who have just finished the 3 mission tests. Before ascending, I went outside of Thirsty River to farm afew Sand Drakes for Topaz Crest to get my Mesmer a collectors staff. Once done, I went off to face my Doppleganger without reviewing/changing my skills.
After the film scene, I sprinted in and started attacking. The main skills used by both of us were 'Watch Yourself', Distracting Blow and Healing Signet. After several minutes, it was clear that neither of us were wining or losing, and we were in a complete slatemate. Afew more minutes later, I finally gave up - mapped back, changed some skills and started again. This time, I killed my Doppleganger alot faster and got the bonus.

First time I Ascended was with my level 20 ranger, I just took my usual skills and interrupted every his try to use Troll Unguent.
Second was with my level 18 warrior. I took Riposte, Deadly Riposte and Frenzy, and just run in close combat.
The funniest moment was when I ran in with my level 13 monk, bunch of AoE smiting skills and Frenzy
He was much stronger than me, but thanks to Frenzy he died when I was at 20hp, just because he stopped attacking me and ran away from AoE damage, while I Banished his sorry ass.
He also died in about 8 seconds or so.

Ascended with my monk last night. Took scourge healing and a bunch of self heals. Took a few times but finally got him to heal himself to death
Tigers Anger
I did it first with my warrior and i got in my knockdown skills (was hammer at the time) before he did and lets just say that i won fairly easily.
I tried with my monk first time, i had never tried my smiting skills but i just totally owned him with my smiting, casted zealots fire and before I went in and start with balthazars aura, smite, banish and symbol of wrath and I beat him in a few seconds (less than 10).
My elementalist beat him with simple aoe fire, he stayed in the firestorm/meteor shower/searing heat and got massacred while I strafed round his aoe spells.
My level 12 ranger/mesmer however (rest were level 20 when they beat doppelganger) barely made it. He had only 3 spirits unlocked on him, so I thought what the hell and took imagined burden and backfire and some other useless spells. I was hiting him for about 30 damage throughout and as you guessed, because of the lack of spirits he started shooting at me early. He was doing 60 damage through my droknars armor and luckily I managed to kill him with just 20 health left then doing a victory dance in Dragon’s Lair with my level 17 ranger followed by a few /rank flashes ftw.

After several ascensions I still found my prot-monk's tries to ascend most hilarious. Being Mo/Me and lacking quite a bunch of healing, smiting and most of Mesmer-skills I tried, and tried, died and tried... and died... and tried again.
One of those tries (total 62!!!) was what I call "full-prot-mode"... it was hilarious. Took me all 10 mins to find out, that when the timer goes out, you die.
Once I got him/her down... and died myself a fraction (less than a second) before... and had to start all over again.
Luckily I found out a combination of skills to succeed finally, otherwise I'd be there still trying and getting killed. Got to know all my skills rather well there
