Flute Drop

This was while using an Ele/Nec lvl 20.

A few days ago I was doing a bit of solo farming in the desert when one of the drops was a flute.
Now i sort of know the whole Gwen story for pre-searing but was confused with this drop. Its an off-hand item with and energy +1.
I tried to sell it to a merchant but it wasn't allowing the transaction to go through.
Can someone please tell me the use of this flute and why I can't sell it?
also to note, when I have the flute equiped with nothing else and i use the command /flute i don't actually play with the flute but just pretend with an invisble one.
Was this drop a bug? has anyone else had a flute drop post searing?

you can always get that flute back, if u do couple farmin runs near sardelac

why it dropped in the desert I dont know, but it is from presearing regularly, you buy it from the merchant outside Ascalon.

That is odd, I never even saw a flute drop in pre-searing, i bought it from the merchant for 4 gold, and the resale value is 2...Maybe its a big secret in the game to find gwen lol...who knows.

i have a collection of those 15 flutes and 10 of Gwens Broken Flutes. Hoping that one day they'll be the key to somthing

In presear: You can find Gwens broken flute. Usually part of a quest for gwen. You can buy her a new flute from the merchant.

In post sear: THere is "Gwens broken flute" outside of sardelac sanitarium.

I have yet to see a flute drop in the desert. I say keep it for now.

JHAWK : Can you sell your flutes back to merchant? And are they all energy +1 value 2gp?

Take a picture of it in your inventory and show us, with your mouse hovered over it. We want to see!

I was outside the sanitarium (post-searing), and found 2 of those within just a few minutes. I carried them around for a while, then just threw them away.

I guess that Gwen was just a clumsy girl, who left a trail behind her of broken flutes. Or maybe she was a prototype Bard, and they discovered the hazard of trying to use your musical insturment as a weapon. :P

Although I have been wondering why they did not include Gwen in Post-Sear, since I have never seen her since. Maybe it is for use in a future expansion.

I thought you could find Gwen in UW somewhere.? You give her her flute and she gives you something..rare i guess...dunno, thought i heard it somewhere.

Her mother is located in the UW, she is called sarah, and she says something like "have u seen my daughter"

The broken flute, scrap of cape etc seem at the moment just to be left over parts from a broken quest, or one that was removed from the game and the components werent.

It has spawned what must be the biggest "conspiracy theory" in the whole of guild wars, with several links between gwen the charr and the searing being put forward

However, as for a flute dropping in the desert, thats a new one on me. Maybe it was just a glitch or maybe a team mate u were with dropped it to make space in their inv, and you just assumed it was a monster drop?

perhaps gwen is somewhere in the underworld. the underworld is a huge place and gwen could be anywhere.

or maybe she never died. maybe she escaped the searing with some of her reletives and fled to the desert ahead of the charr. maybe they found refuge with the elonians and will be seen in nightfall.

i know that her parents are in the underworld wondering where she went but does that have to mean that she ran off somewhere? maybe they are wondering where she went because they died and she didn't and they have that whole confused ghost thing going.

maybe she is even in the hall of heroes somewhere because she spent her life giving adventurers health. it was only occasional 20s but its still something.

Since they removed the tattered cape (or whatever it was) from Stingray Strand a while ago, maybe this is their way of adding to the conspiracy?

The flute is usable while in outposts/towns right?
I thought I saw someone either emote or used the flute.
