First of all: Hi! I'm new to GuildWarsGuru and a GuildWars Newb (got the game for 1 week, never played in beta), but I really like the game, so it looks like I'll stick to it for a few weeks or months.
Now my question: Except the Official Guild Ladder, is there anything else inside the GW world that you can view from the outside (RealLifeā¢) via web browser? In many other games you can view character stats, guild stats, etc. You can have an automated signatures for forums displaying your character details, etc.
Would be neat.
Anyone?
Viewing GW info via browser?

From WomenGamer's interview with Gaile Gray:
Sorry, I don't wanna seem ungrateful, but an image link on the main page isn't exactly what I call a big achievement.
C'mon, all your player and guild data are in a big database anyway. I don't know much about databases and mySQL, but coding a web interface for the database can't be that hard. All major MMO's allow you to view in-game data and statistics via web browser.

Q: Other popular MMOs have put a great deal of effort into building robust statistical websites. Currently being #1 on the guild ladder doesn't have that much meaning right now and is generally buried on a subpage of the site. Are there any plans to expand the current Guild Wars website to better feature players, their guilds and who is top of their class? A: We are actively looking at expanding guild features for Guild Wars on many levels. For while Guild Wars isn't really an MMO, we do appreciate that no matter the genre, those involved in guild-versus-guild and tournament play will enjoy more recognition and more information. In the end, our commitment is to provide detailed information about guilds and guild members. We intend to offer recognition for leading guilds. Holding a high position on the Guild Wars Ladder is a symbol of gaming excellence and, most likely, achieving that rank will be one of the qualifiers for participation in the upcoming Guild Wars world tournament. And you made a good point about the visibility of the Guild Wars Ladder. We had been planning a website "button" link for the Guild Wars Ladder for some time and in fact we added it just last week. This will make it easier for players, fans, and other interested parties to find out the Who's Who of Guild Wars Ladder achievement. The link is located in the right-hand frame of our homepage at www.guildwars.com. |

In case you're talking about improved browsing of the Guild Ladder, that's nice and a good start. But you're building the ladder on GWG from the listing on gw.com, right, not from the GW server?
Or have you figured out a way to query the GW server directly? A report bot? C'mon tell us!

But we do not just extract that information - we store it in a database. What we will do with that ... more on that later!
