PreOrdering GW: Factions
Vilaptca
I know every time that Korea's, Japan's and Taiwan's preorder items are mentioned, the Americans start complaining about our own.
So I would like to discuss some suggestions to ANet with the help of our GWGuru members.
I myself like how the items we receieved have different mods, not something you could find ingame, as well as having unique skins. The biggest flaw with our items is usually that they aren't max stats, the sheild being 14 armor instead of 16, the bow and the hammer not max damage, etc.
But then you look at what the other three got and we see some very interesting skins. Very beautiful, stunning, items. Anyone seeing those in game would be "wowed" They are very nice looking, their stats are decent, but not that unique, as we could actually get an item like that in game. Most seem to take either two or three attributes to a profession and give them the 20% recharge or fast casting. The skins are nice and all, and the weapons max stats, but they would require some odd builds.
I would really like to see everyone receiving as stunning skins for the Factions preorder, comparable to what Korea, Japan and Taiwan have already received. But I would like them to follow with what they did with America's items, use very unique stats on the items. The Canthan Targe's extra health and energy are VERY nice, but many people would pass over this shield because of the 14 armor. A bunch of unique, max stat, items with crazy awesome skins would be...awesome.
I don't know if they've mentioned doing preorder items or not, but if they are, I would really like to see this.
Please, feel free to bash my idea, add your own suggestions, improve upon certain things, post screenshots comparing our okay skins to their awesome skins. Whatever I don't care.
Thanks for the read, and please ANet, max stats. Remember that one when making the items.

I agree..the preorder items were ok..somewhat decent stats for some..but nothing special as far as looks.
The preorder items that are being made avialable now LOOK much better, but not sure how they match up stat wise.
Either way, if preorder items will be made for Chapter 2, improved looks will be nice.

The preorder items they gave us were sorry to say, crap. While the ones the koriens got were not only max damage but also low req from what ive heard.

I think every american pre-order was absolutely junk. The weapons were not max dmg, high req, and no dmg mod. The offhands and sheilds only work in 1-2 builds.
If I preorder the game and pay extra money to do so I want something worth it. I have never once used my pre-order item. Was a waste of my $5.

Myth
and to tell the truth, the skins for the american preorder items werent even that good, compared to the ones everyone else got anyway.

No wasn't worth $5...and really wasn't worth the $10 Best Buy charged, but it was a Pre-Order, and thus gave me $10 off the Collectors Edition.
Anyways, thanks for the feedback. I really like how unique the preorder items are, and am proud to own one, but not so proud when people ask for the stats.
Another to add to this would be, if you are going to give them lower than max stats, can we at least see the requirements lowered. After all, for the requirements on some of these, I could go out and find a decent cheap item of the same quality with a lower requirement.
And remember, unique stats. That extra energy on the Canthan Targe is wonderful...but its not max armor for a shield... Anyways, if they haven't already made the items, I hope they look at this. Or at least have seen us complaining enough about it to consider making some half-way decent items this time...(if they make them at all, I mean we don't even know if there will be a pre-order for GW Factions containing exclusive items or content.)

If you paid extra just to pre-order do us all a favor and post the name of the store and chain where you purchased it. That place should be boycotted.

of course he may have preorder from one place and picked it up someplace else, negating his preorder

I have the Bone Idol and the.. lol I can't even remember what it's called - Censer's Icon? The monk one, whatever it is. TBH I haven't seen them in probably 8-9 months. I used them in presear I think, and that was about it. I remember I tried to /preorder and get them back but for some reason it wasn't working... the sad part is I really didn't care LOL.
I love the way the Bone Idol looks.. too bad it's stats suck ass.

Was it just me, or in the recent talk from Gaile when she mentioned Pre-order items...did it sound like there would only be one item instead of the six like we got before?
aeroclown
err where did you pull six from. I got one item for pre-order not 6.
Flame
He meant six different ones.

Preordering for money, you always have to pay extra money to pre order a game/console, it's nothing different but guild wars added some stuff into it, but they didn't have to.
The reason why korean, japan, taiwan players get better stuff, is because ANET sales on guild wars in the asian countries are crap, that's why they also have coca cola promotional items, they're doing this to make more money, if ANET was selling well over there, they probably wouldn't have those items. Unless you got a suggestion for ANET being able to sell more copies of guild wars over there, then you shouldn't be complaining about it.
The extra $5 dollars ain't sh!t, most players that paid the extra money was for pre ordering and that they could play it before the game came out during beta, beta was well worth the extra $5, and your probably complaining about the items that the koreans got was because your poor in guild wars gold.

If you get to be a beta tester, id would pay that extra 5 bucks.
If its something lame, like a non max item with crap modifiers, no.

Hold on! Where can you preorder Guild Wars: Factions???? As far as I knew there is only the key you can add to your account to give you a free preview of Factions this weekend...
Vilaptca
You can't yet. But Gaile did say we could and that we would get an item.

Europe did get it's own pre-order item: Information can be found here: http://www.guildwars.com/products/preorder-index.html

I think the /preorder command works only in towns. I did it a few days ago without any problems, but noticed it will not work while in instanced areas - only in towns and outposts.
The original pre-orders (there were six different ones in all - five in America and one in Europe) allowed players to participate in the pre-release beta weekend events, which did make it worth the cost (plus there was a coupon for the same amount off the full version of the game - so the pre-order essentially cost nothing). However, I do have to agree that I was disappointed in the stats of the items, which make them practically useless in Pre-Searing (a basic hammer I am using is still doing more damage than the War Pick), and there are many better items that can be found almost immediately in Post that offer some equal or better bonuses for less reqs.
I am hoping the new pre-order item(s) are a bit more useful than the last set, and think Anet should recode the original pre-orders anyway to make them more useful. Just like the uber armor in the game, these pre-order items are supposed to be a status symbol and aid in making your characters more unique. At the very least, they should be useful enough for us to be able to use them in the first place.

Think anyone interested in GW: Factions preorder should read this.

Specifically the part that says "I do not see a max damage item in the preorder. I see something of value, for sure."

If Anet needs to sell more copies of GW to asian countries, then they should work on a better marketing campaign or adjust the actual price of GW. They work hard to keep all aspects of the game balanced, and in my opinion that should include the items you offer each of the countries.

I must agree with the people in here speaking their desire for better pre-order items. I was rather disappointed with the Ithas Bow, I must say. It's not max damage and it's not low req. I find better bows going town-to-town. Granted they all don't look as cool... and very few fire as fast (if any, I know the Ithas Bow has one of the fastest firing rates).
The +5 armour is quite nice as well.
But, in the end, I expected a high-end weapon I could use after level 20 (or even level 15), because it was a pre-order... which shows faith in the game.
Losing my train of thought now, ending the post.

Note - Arena.net - designers; NCSoft - publishers; the publisher usually gets to do do anything they want with a title from a designer, in this case they chose to have local offices come up with pre-order items.
P.S. - The Coca-Cola items were only offered in Korea.
As for sales, people keep forgetting that many Koreans play in Internet Cafes, the cafe has to by the game, not the players, the players only need a key, which they could purchase from the NCSoft store.
