Guild Wars: Factions

Now, is this gonna be like an expansion pack that just updates our current version?

Or

Will it be completely new and we have to start with new characters and re-unlock everything?

I'd hate to have everything go bye-bye, but i suppose because our accounts are linked to a.nets' servers once we login on Factions all our stuff would still be there........

And also:

A.Net announced it would come out in the second quarter of 2006.
