Same idea with Monks. Going back to shoalin monks and abbots I guess with bald heads. Maybe they are doing their godly duty and donating their hair to the poor. St. Francis Assisi style

GuildWars = RPG = Fantasy
you want afro's & mean looking gangsta style characters ---> www.gtasa.com <--- its awesome, unless you live in australia like me where the govt likes to nerf all rockstar games
but yes more variety in faces/hair/etc would be nice

You said your not racist, which is great, but OMG did you write some non-pc stuff.
Your kind of assuming that all black individuals have or want an afro?
First off it isnt just black people who have big puffy afros. A bloke from my village has one and we call him "disco stew" when ever ya see him.
Secondly not all black people have afros. Imagine Anet had made it so that black skinned characters could ONLY have african american style hair cuts.... now that would have caused an outcry.
You should have really worded your question differently. Maybe just said "why is there not afros...?".
I understand your view about stereotyping hairstyles for professions. My view on that is Anet are obviously trying to play on all our perspectives of how we view those professions.
In films, and tv and books, rangers always have long hair. And casters always have emoish, or longish hair. Monks always tend to be bold or short hair.
Their playing on our child-hood images of these characters that we've got from books and films.

The point that is trying to be made is that all ethnicities aren't properly represented in the game.
The attempt and injecting them were very weak, to say the least.
Right all "black" people don't have afro's, but very few "black" people have long flowing hair (unless it's treated), especially males.
The point is in the first two chapters, Anet's version of colored character was akin to painting blackface on one of the character models.
This may change with Nightfall.
The request wasn't for all characters with dark skin to have "african american" hairstyles, just that the styles available included some hairstyles of the black culture. That's not very hard to do nor too much to ask.
You statement regarding TV books and other forms of entertainment is a joke, considering most of those stereotypes were created at a time when black people were barely considered or treated like people. Not to mention that these images were created by people of European descent based on their limited knowledge of the world and biased opinions.
How do you know what a ranger, or elementalist or mesmer would look like in the Sahara Desert or the Amazon Basin or in pre-settled Australia.
Yeah, you will probably say there weren't any there...how do you know?

It's okay to bump an old thread, but not when the subject has since become irrelevant. We have Nightfall coming out which basically answers this suggestion.
