Connection Woes

I bought Guild Wars about a week ago and since then, I haven't been able to connect to the servers. It's not a problem with my ISP, router, firewall, or any of that. The problem is with something very close to the GW servers end. I sent a question in to support three days ago, and still haven't gotten a reply. Can anyone offer me any advice on how to get it to connect, apart from really strange things, like VPN-ing through Australia or something.

Do you mean when installing the game or playing it?

If you mean installing I had this EXACT problem. Apparently I had unistalled a firewall earlier but there were still remnants that remained behind and were causing problems. Once I got them deleted it was smooth sailing.

I know the problem isn't with my computer, or my connection. I've verified this with traceroutes to NCsoft's servers from within the network of one of the major backbone providers (Level3) and the servers are just unreachable. I was wondering if someone knew a workaround, a way to proxy the connection, or something.

I've been using Guild Wars for about 10 days on my laptop over a wireless connection and have had no trouble UNTIL yesterday. Now on a perfectly good connection, I can't find the server. Err=5 is what I get. Zippo in the knowledge base. Even more bizarre is that updates download and install fine -- Just can't play the durn game. Anyone who can help?

Have you made sure the proper ports are open? I believe they're listed in the sticky at the top of the page
