Hello once again Ranger Goers!
May I present the Ranger Running Build

Profession: Ranger/Anything

Name: Ranger Running Build

Type: Strictly PvE. Please don't use this in PvP XD.

Category: Running Build

Attributes:
Expertise: 12+1+3
Wilderness Survival: 12+1

Skills Set:
Dodge
Escape [Elite]
Storm Chaser
Dryder's Defenses
Lighting Reflexes
Whirling Defense
Troll Unguent
Antidote Signet

Other Skills
Pin Down
Charm Animal
Ignite Arrows

Summary:
What is 'this' ranger running build? It's a build for basic running to anywhere, using only ranger skills. Does this mean I'd be able to run to Droknars?! No XD. Well, yes, but you must use the warrior's Balanced Stance. This build is Strictly for Rangers only as it only uses Ranger skills.

How does this build work? Your workhorse here is Dodge and Storm Chaser. You use Storm Chaser for just running 25% faster and Dodge for dodging monster arrows, running 33% faster, and making up for the cooldown of Storm Chaser. The other skills, Dryder's Defense, Whirling Defense, and Lightning Reflexes are used when you are either crippled or slowed down by a hex. Are the monsters you are passing using elemental skills? Use Dryder's Defense. Melee Attacks? Whirling and Lightning. If you are cripple or bleeding there is a useful skill called antidote signet; use it. Troll Unguent when you're health is low or when you are about to go into a challenging mob.

Other skills? Pin Down, Charm Animal, and Ignite Arrows. Use Pin Down on the annoying Drake that keeps chasing you. Do you have a pet that would make a pretty good scapegoat? Use your Charmed pet as bait; let the monsters kill him while you get away. Sadistic isn't it? Ignite Arrows. Imagine this: You are running a group of Characters to Lion's Arch for the very first time. You are confident and have all of your skills ready. Now you get to the ice cave. Oh no! You have been trapped by those fat butt Mountain Trolls. But you remember Chris_nin00's Running Ranger Build, word by word, and being the smart person you are, you figure out how to get out of this predicament. Ignite Arrows, and scatter them like mice! Thank you AoE update. /salute.
Why is this build used? To make money by running people to places they've never been too. You could also explore running. Other than that, be creative.
'But there is nothing else you can do with a running build, except Griefing!'
Who said that?!

Notes & Concerns: I haven't played PvP for the last few weeks. I went back to my PvE players and saw something. I'm out of money! NOOO! So I thought about ways to make money. Dancing? Too boring. Pimp? My ranger is ugly. Scamming? Not in my life. Trapping? Feasible. Running? Easy cash. So now I'm serving the PvE community. Aren't you all happy? Okay on to the meat.

I shall start with Pros and Cons this time
Pros:
-Can run anything, anywhere.
Cons
-People will hate you for doing this in PvP.
Not much going on except running. Enjoy.

Notes: Love and Hate Mail are greatly appreciated as well as posting in this thread! If you want to flame or belittle in any way, do so through PM towards me! My mail is open. Any questions or comments? Thank you.

this may be good build to run around in the desert... but in the shiverpeaks where there are KD's and slow down hexes... it wouldn't work too well...

mmhh.... alot of things to "evade/block" stuff, I reckon you should use a R/Mo with Holy Veil and/or Purge Conditions. I think just Escape [Elite] and Storm Chaser/Dodge is enough.

I'm with Kitsun here. An R/Mo with Purge Conditions and Holy Veil would be good. With expertise that high, you can alternate Escape and Dodge pretty much 24/7, filling in the gaps with Storm Chaser. The other stances seem kind of unnecessary. *Maybe* Dryder's Defenses, I can see how the increased elemental resistance could be helpful at times. But yea, Antitode Signet doesn't help against cripple, only poison/disease and blindness, so going monk secondary for Purge Conditions seems like the best way to go.

EDIT: Oh yea, one more thing. This build can't go just *anywhere*. Like Valerius said, anyplace with knockdowns might get hairy. In that case you would want to go warrior secondary, spec some tactics and use Balanced Stance, but then you'd lose condition control :-/ Ranger runners are good at running places that are light on giants, with their stomps and knockdown stone-throwing.

-I've created a build for rangers only. In short, I've made it so that every ranger can do it without 'shopping' for secondary skills. Monk skills are very useful though if you want to build off this build. Remember that my builds are basis
-I've noted that you can't run to drok's. Only if you are a warrior with balanced stance.

Also, the 'other' skills are there for a reason. Switch em out with skills you don't need!

And running in the desert is nice, but you have to watch out for the scarabs. They'll get you fast. Besides those buggers, it's a piece of cake to run the desert.

Thank you all for your comments! By doing this you are giving ideas to newcomers and oldgoers alike. That is my main goal! Next

Almost exact same build I used with my Ranger before deleting her. And yes it works very very nice. Be prepared to not get AS many invites for runs, there are people out there who believe only warriors can run to places. Typically when I run from Ascalon to Lions Arch making all stops, that is when I have someone tell me to be quiet that rangers can't run.

I used Morgriff's Staff when I ran for the extra armor, I would probably recommend one of those 45/-2 while in stance collector shields too, as you should be in a stance the entire time you are running.

I know you say you 'created' it and such and I don't doubt you pulled the skills from your menu and put them on your bar thinking it up as you went along, but just saying: ranger running has been around for a while.

Even before ranger runs got buffed my friend and I would run on rangers...Why, you ask? Because the only thing back then that could outrun that was a W/R.

And now, what can outrun a R/*? Nothing....

Personally, I run with escape as my dominant 25%, with storm chaser being active for about 1/2 a second as to keep me at 25% between escape and dodge.... timing is what matters, and I found a nifty way of knowing when exactly to activate my dodge. So basically, when I run, the only thing I can get hit with is a magical projectile, but usually outrun them anyhow!

&: try using a 45/-2 shield with this, it's fun stuff. --- [I prefer to bring troll / healing spring for a quick heal up, and whirling /dryders/lightning as a bait for if I get diversion on me or something else nasty like that... AoE's are nice for if you get trapped by a group of monsters, but after 6 months you learn to just be friendly with the monsters and they all step out of your way ;] ]

Glad you've found the joys of ranger running.. lemme know if ya wanna race sometime? I looove racing other rangers....

I created a warrior just for the sake of running. Compared to my ranger? I hate it. There's just not enough energy to throw around on a W/Mo. :| People are dumb.

I've been playing around with Mend Ailment instead of Purge Conditions because I hate the recharge time on the latter of the two. No idea what may come out of this. I don't know when Dryder's Defenses would come in handy, seeing as how it's a stance (and would cancel out a speed stance) and one should be able to run right through mobs of enemies anyway...

Also, I think that 16 in Expertise is a bit high and lowers health a bit too much for my liking...but then again, I don't alternate between Escape and Dodge, I alternate between Escape and Storm Chaser instead, with Dodge being the "oh, bother, I messed up the Escape/Storm Chaser cycle." :|

Did you ever figure out what skill to take instead of Troll Unguent on your Ranger? :/

If you make Expertise 16 and take Dodge and Escape as the only running skills, you can be in a stance all the time.
Why not just go with something in WS you ask? Because with Expertise 16 you can have 2 maintained enchantments on you!

When i run with my ranger i use Holy Veil and Mending, or Mending and Watchful Spirit, and Heal Area and Healing Breeze for healing when needed!

This is what I've been using lately when I ranger-run
1. Escape {E}
2. Dodge
3. Storm Chaser
4. Healing Breeze
5. Holy Veil
6. Purge Conditions
7. Mending
8. Healing Spring

I put Mending and Holy Veil up and then alternate my 3 run stances, using Healing Breeze when under heavy fire and Purge when I get crippled. Healing Spring is for when I'm all alone and want to heal up faster, that's what I've replaced Troll Unguent with... I can't think of something else to bring in that last spot.
Mend Ailment instead of Purge Conditions is a nice idea, I'll have to try it and see how it goes.

It's easier to find my build's that way
Other than that I don't see where this is going.

Note that the build's proper name doesn't include my name... Except this one. XD Bad thread Bad!

Oh and by the way. The builds in the builds submission thread will soon update the Builds Directory, so hurry up and send in those builds.

To make a droks run you would have to replace escape with charge and put at least 10 into tactics lowering your ws wouldnt you?

Meteor. That's about it. When you get pelted by Hydras you will be on your ass. I don't know about you, but I have a hard time running while sitting. The elemental resistance will help you until the Hydras use up their Meteors. Then you blast away again.
