doesnt have to be about talking behind someones back. there could be plenty of reasons to use an officer chat. They actually sort of had it a while back. People used the alliance chat because only the officers and alliance officers could see it. If you had no alliance then only your guild's officers. Then they opened it up to all members, which was a good idea, but they didnt see the need for an officer only chat i guess. Im for it.
