I keep getting this error after I log in and just get booted from the game. I have been playing now 10 days or so. I bought the game from retailer in Australia (EB Games)

I went to log on this morning and I get in, but then I get booted and get the error I mentioned above.

Some information...

I have not installed this game on any other computer, nor have I given out my account information. The serial number used to install the game was not opened.
Is it even possible to have the same serial number registered to two e-mail addresses?

I went in to the game logged on and changed my password two times as well. Logged in and the same thing happened straight afterwards. So obviously my account hasn't been stolen because then someone would obviously just change the password and e-mail straight away so I couldn't log in again.

This just started happening this morning as well.

Here is a screenie of the error as well.

Anyone have ANY idea what is going on here? This is very frustrating

EDIT: Could this have something to do with my ISP using a proxy and it looking like people are trying to log on from the same IP?

Or possibly having to exit the game wby closing the window with the X and not being properly logged out maybe?

You are going to have to contact Anet about this directly. Make sure you have your paper sleeve with the cd-key handy (if you did a physical purchase).

Log in, and instantly change your password.

I'm guessing your account has been stolen - if you're using the same passwords on websites they may have got it from there, or you may have a keylogger on your system, who knows. In any event, you probably have a squatter on your account, and changing the password and then sweeping your system for spyware is a good start.

Yeah, I did change my password and it occurred straight after that. I changed it two times actually. I have a pretty secure computer with Norton's and Zone Alarm with Spyware sweeper.

Also, if someone stole my account wouldn't they easily just be able to change the e-mail addy + password so that I couldn't log in?

Spyware Sweeper only finds known threats, same for norton antivirus - many keyloggers go undetected. Zone Alarm should have warned you that something wanted to dial out, but the application will have had an innocent-sounding name, and you may have given it access to the net.

Now, it could conceivably be an issue if you're using a proxy or some sort of anonymizer-service, or some other type of IP spoofing, or tried to run GW on a virtual computer; otherwise I can't really see any way the GW server could be fooled into thinking your computer is really two computers (with two IP numbers).

I'm still thinking someone got your password, somehow.

Email addresses cannot be changed unless the person with the original email address confirms the change or a certain number of days passed after the change request was made.

Well I was able to log on and play for 4 hours ... I have now changed the e-mail addy + password. So if someone did have my e-mail + password for the account they shouldn't now.

I am also real careful with what I let through zone alarm... I know all my processes that are running and all that. If I don't know a process I go and check it out and make sure it's something that is supposed to be there etc.

i had that when i first got guild wars. apparently, it happened when i closed it by pressing the x symbol on the top right corner, instead of logging out first. i haven't had that problem since. but then, i don't play very often now, and someone might be playing my account while i'm at school. who knows.

I think ANET owned you guys just because they are r15 with their ub3r moose emote. :P

Probably just have to wait it out for a bit and don't go afk. A restart might be able to fix this problem... Just a thought :P.

I have had this happen before from closing with the X. What it was was the fact the game didn't close completely. It was still running in the background. When I looked in my Task Manager there were 2 instances of GW.exe. After end tasking bot instances, I had no problems.

Hmmm, I wish I would have checked for that....

I did get a reply back today about this from Guild Wars support saying that it is a bug and that my account wasn't stolen.
