Markmanship Ranger Secondary

Id like to make a archery or pet focused ranger. Problem is that I need to choose a secondary profession. Im primarily interested in ranger so secondary skills would need to be ones that complliment my primary abilities. I dont really have any idea what would be a good secondary. Ive looked at elementalists and warriors. Warriors only seem to have any use if you are in melee range while elementalists seem to only be useful if you use the ranger abilities to compliment the spells not the other way around. Any suggestions would be appreciated or even just tips on skills.

Monk...or Necromancer.

Necro is a good secondary because ranger primary needs very high stats in expertise and marksmanship and doesn't have much room for skills of the 2nd either. With necro you can get by with just 6-7 attribute points and one or two skills in curses or blood with good effect.

The primary reason for going ele would be for a conjure to boost damage potential as expertise does not affect spells and they are very costly for attacking rangers.

For monk, you can either heal with support pretty ineffectively (rangers need their energy very badly) or boost your damage with judges insight and other smiting moves. Only thing here is that conjure lasts a full minute while judges insight will need at least 3 recasts in that time hampering your ability to skill spam.

Mesmer I don't think would work too well again because of the energy issues unless you can find some skills that would be useful that expertise affects (can't think of any right now).

And warrior probably not well either for the reasons you stated.

I would lean towards either necro or ele/monk depending on your goal (pure damage vs some hex capability).
