Collectors vs. Special Edition

Hi guys, I searched for my question, but I couldn't find an answer. So here's my question... What's the difference between a Collectors and a Special Edition? I'm asking this because I want the 'best' Chapter 2 Edition, I know you guys don't know anything about the different Editions in Chapter 2, so for Chapter 1, what was the difference?

And why would A.Net release 3 different versions being, the normal one, collector's and special edition!

Think of the number of people who bought the normal one, only to find out the in-game benefit of the collectors edition i.e. the divine aura, and so bought that one as well. Cha ching!

THe special edition gives you 7 skills and an elite when you start the game.

CE for chapter 1 gave a set of headphones/mike a hardcover art book, a free ? month of team speak or the other one, and the Devine Aura which is the neat glowing hands trail you see at times from dancing/emotes

plus dont forget the unqiue only your account Collectors Item.

CE: Divine Aura (glowing hands when you emote); headset; big, nicely annotated art book; 1 month of free teamspeak; Soundtrack CD.
SE: Small, unanoted artbook (different art from the other one too); Soundtrack CD; DirectSong access to add the soundtrack in-game*; access key giving 7 skill, 1 elite and 1 upgrade unlock for PvP.

*sounds weird, but half of the soundtrack isnt actually in-game normally... 0_o

I have both (and now like 4 copies of the soundtrack...)

Am i right in saying that the Special Edition came out way after the initial release?

Also, when i Pre-order Chap2 it will most likely be from www.Play.com or www.gameplay.com, i live in the UK. I want the Collectors edition but i was wondering where i can get it from?

If i preordered this, would it be the collectors?

I bought the preorder box from Best Buy, and then used the receipt to get the money off the Collector's Edition, but I don't know how that works for ordering it online.

Yep, you're right. Most likely when ch2 is released there will be a standard and a collector version. A special ed version may or maynot come a few months later, much like you get GotY editions of Unreal Tourney, Halflife, etc months after the original was released and those sometimes come with perks like various additional map packs (that you could download for free but now don't have to, etc)

Do you know if and where you can pre-order the chapter 2?

Only if you get an actual preorder package. ANet can't exactly track who has paid for an ethereal item so with regards to preorders (atleast for ch1) they put out a special package that had a special cd key in it. Putting this key into your account listed you as having a preorder package. They took it one step further and actually gave sets of keys to different retailers so they could track who bought what where and gave preorder items based on the retailer you bought from. Without this key you won't get jack.

Special edition comes out long after initial release (atleast until now) and comes with extra junk like artbooks and Soundtracks and such.

preorder the Collectors Edition. Thats what you want.

new question: if i was gonna get SE, will i get Divine aura or does it come only with CE? because on official site all they mention is NF signature dances which are not realy worth it (i want glowing hands )...

lets say i got it, is it gonna be on all my characters or only on Ch 3 characters?

Divine Aura is only available with the Prophecies CE. It does not come with Faction nor with Nightfall. Prohpecies Special Edition comes with pvp skill/rune/upgrade unlocks; it does not come with Divine Aura. No one really knows how they will impliment the Nightfall CE bonus emote until the game goes live. Chances are it'll only be for primary Dervishes/Paragons like the backup dancers from Factions.

I only see Standard and Collectors mentioned, with the collectors having (among other things):

Divin Aura can still be had for 140+ dollars on Ebay...
