Hey guys, so SS reads as following:
For 8-18 seconds, whenever target foe attacks or uses a skill, Spiteful Spirit deals 5-29 shadow damage to that foe and all adjacent foes.
Question is, does that foe have to actually HIT the target to suffer the shadow damage? Reason I ask is I wanted to look into using Price of Failure along with SS to not only do better damage but also help my teammates....
thanks!
FYI,
Price of Failure - Hex Spell
For 30 seconds, target foe has a 25% chance to miss with attacks and takes 6-25 damage whenever that foe misses in combat.

SS works when they attack, not when they hit. Anything offensive counts as an attack.
Any weapon and/or any offensive skill/spell are attacks and trigger SS.
Wards, PoF, Aegis, Guardian do NOT affect SS. Feel free to use them together.
Now, Shadow of Fear DOES affect SS, because it slows attack speed.

I'm pretty sure SS deals damage whenever you attack or cast any spell. When doing a FOW chest run past the shadows I had SS on my warrior. I ran away to a clear spot to heal and guess what happened when I used my healing signet, I took SS shadow damage.

I don't know, I remember a time in Tombs, when spiteful was cast on a minions in a minion factory. We hid behind a wall and they couldn't hit us, and they took no damage from spiteful. It was a fair while ago, though.

SS goes off with attacks and skills. Spells are a type of skill so the only way to avoid SS dmg is to not do anything except move around.

A recent patch allowed SS to trigger on 0 second casts including stances and shouts.
Considering how prevalent this skill is being used in farming, I'd expect this to be the center of another pvp/pve balance where the mobs stop attacking when SS is on them.

I hope that is the way it is done, because the skill is fine as is...game just needs an AI update to keep up with the players
