Preordering Factions in the UK

I have searched this but i only found fidcussions about US items and nothing on European Preorders

I am enquiring into where i will be able to preorder factions from (I'm guessing the same shops that had Guild Wars for pre-order with items).

I did not get the chance to preorder Guild Wars and i don't want to miss out on Factions.

I have no idea which UK shops will have pre-order items, do any of you?
If so does this mean different shops=different items?
Is it only online preorders that give special items or is it in shop preorders too?

This might sound stupid, but is a pre-order just a regular "retail pack" at the usual price with an extra goodie of some sort? Or is it more expensive?

I think the OP was referring to which shops will have a "pre-order package", which would offer stuff like exclusive in game items, etc. Play's web site doesn't explicitly state that they will have such things for Factions (although they do for alterntive games).

Follow Alex's advice, and give it a couple of weeks.

i know you can pre-order from amazon.uk but i'm not sure if you can pre-order the collecters addition or not.

Typically a preorder is a special package that you pay a small amount for, say $10. When the full version comes in you take your preorder (or receipt) to where you paid for it and get the full version at a discount of the amount you paid for the preorder. Preorders are intended to give a store a number of guarenteed sales. Lets say an EB gets 100 preorder packages but only sells 10 of them, it's unlikely they will want to bring in 100 copies of the game when it's released. They'll instead bring in 10 copies, plus a few extras.

Yeah, I remember a friend of mine getting a pre-order - it had "cool stuff" but nothing of much worth. So it's pretty much what I guessed - thanks anyway.

The pre-order items of Faction will with all probability be a lot better than the ones for original GW.

Most of the items Korea and Taiwan have received lately have been useful, I even saw the "Coke" shield being used by one of the Korean teams in the GWWC regionals.

Play.com as always the best prices.

If you want a shop I am sure GAME, Virgin or HMV will have pre-orders.

But just a word of warning if its like last year you will be lucky to get GW in any UK by release date. Unless u get online.

It’s not a big deal from what I have seen, just a have look at the UK magazines coverage you get a nice FAT 0 about GW fair enough factions is too new to talk about still.

I hope Chapter1 gets more coverage than GW maybe will be able to see european servers as full like it is in the US servers.

If you want websites I would say Play.com, Amazon.co.uk, gameplay.co.uk and I am sure u will get them pre-orders.

Do a trial go to a store and ask about GW and you will see the response. "GUILD what" its so funny it hurts

I am sure its not going to be a sell out plus there is not even a confirmation date yet for the game release.

I don’t think shops give anything away unless A.net provided them. i may be wrong on that.

If the reason you want to find a store is coz u dont have a credit/debit card, i know that gameplay has an option to pay you game at the post office just go online and make a request for gameplay card.

I got my preorder (and the game itself) from Fry's. On the day of release, anyone with a preorder got the game (whichever version for the appropriate cost less the cost of the preorder), a t-shirt, a poster and a mousepad. ANet may have provided the items almost certainly, but I didn't notice any other businesses giving away extras.

May I ask you were is Fry's? Never hear of it. Is that based in the UK?

No Fry's is an American eletronic's store...as far as I know...they have them in Oregon.

Can someone tell me what the difference is between pre-order, collector's edition and deluxe edition? If I order that one from play.com which one would I get? The version that people purchased to get glowing hands and bow etc, which one was that for chapter 1?

Ok if memory doest fails me Pre-order last year was, you Pre-order the game and they send you a Serial Key (cd key) by email, and you can play the game with this key 2 days or so before the game is official released once you game arrives (that should be the say that was released) you take it from there.

But i think that last year only gameplay.co.uk was offering pre-order CD keys, not sure whats A.net plans this year.

Again i may be wrong so correct me if i am wrong.

If I was you I would not pre-order yet, first they don’t know the date yet and we can be 4-5 months still away from game release date.

In regards to extras by using pre-order it’s all to do with A.net and it has nothing to do to the stores or Online’s Stores unless they can request for this type of gifts.

I am not sure you would get any extra gifts on play.com the charge £17.99 were other charge £24.99 and shops £34.99 so I think you are more likely to get freebies from stores, after all there charge more than most online stores.

Plus Play.com don’t charge P&P and 17.99 it’s a great price for a new game so I don’t think they would want to pay more P&P them self by offering, Mouse mats, T-shirts and so on.

At that price standard, but remember prices can change coz they dont know them selfs whats the deal yet, but for £17.99 you would get a normal bundle.

But again what do I know.

All I know is still need to find out a few more things before making my decision in regards to get or not the game.

Thanks for the info! I'm not too fussed about getting extra things in the box (mouse mat etc.) but I am interested in which version gives extra goodies in-game. It sounds like Special/Collectors Edition is the one to get then for ingame stuff? I hope someone from Anet can clarify a bit more, this is confusing

No it wasn't a pre-order, but I mean it was a unique item, much like the pre-order items for GW in Europe and America.

Those things were useless, but if GW follows the trend, the pre-order items for Factions should also be useful, like the ones of late being given to other game worlds.

Yes only SE/CE will have in game items, thats is if A.net will use the same marketing tactic.

Again i am sure very soon they will announce whats in what, but dont go and pre-order something until your hear from A.net.like like i said we are still a few months away from the release date.

Second this statement.
Dont go getting a pre-order until you find out what benefits the pre-order will give you. Like the pre-orders last year, depending on where you pre-ordered, you got a specific in-game item customized to you. Dont know what they will be or if they will be any good; just have to wait and see.

Also, pre-ordering online or in stores can be tricky or risky. SOme have had problems trying to get preorder discounts to go through or get what they thought they were paying for. waiting closer to release date MIGHT save you some of that hassle.

and if you pre-order from amazon you will recieve the game 2 weeks after release date...or a few days on any other site.
for me, im just going to pre-order from the shops and then go down and get it, because tbh I dont care what extras it comes with, the game is good enough for me...

Gale (w/ Frog) mentioned there are going to be CE version of Factions as well but have yet to find any pre-orders for it.

It's always cheaper to pre-order and pay over time if you have a tight wallet.
