Is there anyone who has or currently plays WoW and can tell me how GW compares.
Is GW a good game to go to if you want to get away from WoW for a bit.

I can give you some insight.
I've played WoW for a decent amount of time. Fun for the beginning where its really simple and easy to learn to play with. Great start and everything, until that is I realized no matter how much they try to mask it. The reality was I'm just leveling and grinding through quests and mobs to attain what everyone has attained already with limited variations. I especially was dissappointed with how the warrior class was. That was basically it... The few things that made me wow was the fact that there were barely if any loading zones whatsoever it was to the point where u can travel the whole continent with barely any loading. Thought it was also special that they had pvp, rpg, and normal servers I loved the rpg servers. I eventually quit when I realized I didn't want to endure countless hours of leveling up my character.
So far with guildwars its an interesting approach. You can tell right from the start this game will get really intense only after your done with the first 20 levels of your tutorial. Right away you realize no matter your build as long as you know how to use it it will be useable. Although a turn off for me was the loading, but you get used to it and barely notice it. Another turn off for me was the fact that each class had a certain body look to it. I'm a character creation freak so the fact that "if i wanted to create a monk" I'd have to look like a little hunch back kinda made me turn away from even touching monk primary. I understand that its more made to appeal to hardcore competitive gamers so they wouldn't really mind the whole customization issue, but bleh its fine with me. However I just started so although I'm only guessing that at level 20 it will be more of a blast then beginning levels. I'm having a great time so far already except for the fact that I'm rubberbanding.

I've never played GW, so I can't compare the two. I have played WoW though, and while it has good features and great potential (with battlegrounds coming in, PvP point system, and maybe even hero classes), the entire game itself just didn't meld with me. I didn't care for the cartoony graphics, they wore on me after a while.
I don't usually put much emphasis on graphics but I just didn't like them. The combat/skills system was pretty good, even though there were glaring balance issues. Each class had a decent range of skills and talents they could use. The upcoming PvP additions do look promising, even though the rewards you earn from PvP feats are temporary rewards lasting for only a week.
I only played long enough to get an Orc Warrior to level 46, and I haven't played for a few days. I'll probably cancel my account soon and wait for Guild Wars to be released. I'm getting bored and tired of the grinding and looting scene. It's okay in moderation, as I like to be able to work towards bettering my character and his equipment, but I don't like for it to be absolutely necessary to invest months of time just to be able to access the desirable parts of the game's content.
After playing DAoC for a while, and playing WoW for a bit, a game like Guild Wars really appealed to me. I hope it turns out as good as it looks.

I've been playing WoW heavily since december, and I just now got interested in Guild Wars.
It's really impossible to compare the two, as they're entirely different types of games. Guild Wars is more action-y, less of the other MMORPG stuff. I can't say I prefer one over the other, as they are entirely different experiences. When I want one kind of experience I'll play GW, when I want the other I'll play WoW. I suggest giving it a try, but don't expect it to be like a traditional MMO.
