For all who have been wanting detail of my profession ideas, here is one of them. Same rules as before and please don't critisize length if you expect more.

Paladin(P)

The paladin is a more unique type of warrior. Unlike the normal warrior profession the paladin will be able to use short buffs that can help out the rest of the party and turn the tide of a battle in a matter of seconds. These buffs will be like shouts and very few will need to have charge time. The paladin will be a welcome addition to the guild wars family and can be very useful in certain battles. Being a follower of Dwayna gives the paladin some very efficiant boosts as well. Along with boosts the paladin will suffer some negatives explained in the pros and cons section. The paladin will have a base energy level of 30 with 3 energy regen. May the light of the paladin protect your party.

Attributes- Name and Description(may be different later time):

Holy Armor(Primary)
Protector
Buff
Holy Strike

Holy Armor: With holy armor as the primary attribute the paladin will gain some great increases. The first increase is the effect of gaining a 1% increase in armor protection for each rank in this attribute. Another increase would be even higher protection from monsters with great evil(based on underworld creatures). Holy armor is granted by Dwayna herself increaseing the effectiveness of the paladins protection.

Protector: Protector is an attribute that increases the paladins ability to protect allies. The more rank in protector the higher chance of the paladin being able to score criticals on evil monsters(underworld based) and the higher the ability for the paladin to see his comrade when he is in trouble. A comrade in trouble will have a blinking health meter in the party bar. This will be very helpful for seeing when a monk is in danger.

Buff: this attribute will increase the effectiveness of the paladin's buffs. his buffs will help his party members greatly such as a buff that can grant +80 armor for __ seconds but deal half damage. Buffs will help the paladin and his party members have a fighting chance against stronger enemy monsters. For every 3 levels higher an enemy's level is compared to the paladin's, the paladin's buffs will be reduced by 50%. this will help keep the paladin from being able to take on high level missions as a low level character.

Holy Strike: holy Strike will improve the paladin's attack skills greatly. the higher the rank in this attribute, the higher damage an effectiveness of his attack skills will become. This attribute keeps the paladin as a warrior and not a protector or buffer.

Example of Skills( No this is not last one):

Godly Slice: Strike for +__ holy damage and cause __ seconds of bleeding to target foe. 7 adrenaline (Holy Strike)

Soft Flesh: Buff. For the next __ seconds, all party members and minions gain __% extra healing from healing spells. 10 energy (Buff)

Fear for Ally(Elite): For the next __ seconds no one can attack target party member with normal attacks. 10 energy (Protector)

Pros:The paladin has many pros. One pro is that he can fight and deal damage while protecting his party. He will have great armor and be able to kill certain monsters very fast. He can help with running on any mission with certain buffs or can use buffs in a battle without stopping his fighting. He also has more nergy then the normal fighter(warrior).

Cons: The paladin has many cons to go with his pros. One con is that he deals only a little bit of damage aginst monsters that aren't pure evil. He also has very little armor without his primary attribute. The paladin cannot replace the normal warrior because he will deal and take less damage.

So, what do you think of this rough sketch? I listed many things and showed how my idea of proffessions can't overpower other professions. I may not have listed them in my other ideas but they are there.

I don't think it's differentiated enough from a W/Mo (except for more energy). Godly Slice wouldn't look out of place on a Warrior (just change the holy damage to something else) and Soft Flesh and Fear For Ally wouldn't look out of place on a Monk. The example skill you listed in the Buff tree is similiar to Life Attunement and would also fit well into the Monk skillset.

I think this is unnecessary. Well balanced skills would not be overpowered on a low level character. The +80 armor could instead be +20..80 armor, so that low level characters wouldn't be too powerful. Plus, this would be very painful in UW, where most enemies are lvl28+.

Can I have a nickel for everyone who said "W/MO"?

but actually, to some degree, I like it. some decent skill ideas. Inspired me some on few ideas that can be use for a Protector class...

Keep working at it! (and where are the details for #1 and #2?)

and for spell cost, can do in something like:

which mean 10 energy to cast, 5 second of casting time, and 10 second to recharge.

see if that help.

Sounds very much like the Paladin class from DAoC. Which I don't mind, I liked it when I played it. Shouts to buff the party would be great in GW

I'll try to follow that panflet form actionjack, also forburakus, the only MMO's i've played are GW and DDO. Normally I'm not into the computer but I'm starting to like it. None of my ideas are based on other games.

Funnily enough, neither of those are MMO .

I do think that the Paladin class has potential. It's just so easy to infringe on Warrior or Monk territory with the concept. Then again, we're only looking at 3 or 4 skills here. If you just chose 3 or 4 skills from the Monk skill set, then you could easily make an argument that they're infringing on Elementalist (smiting nukes) or Mesmer (divine spirit, blessed signet, scourge healing/sacrifice).

Just make new monk and warrior skills because a P/R = W/Mo/R
