Lemme preface this by saying I have probably giving away 250K to noobz in PvE, and if this is the wrong forum for this post...I apologize.

Three times tonight (count em three) I offered running services or help with missions for tips, and I was burned.

I was bored tonight, so I offered help running Nolani in less than 10 minutes for tips, at least one of each group of four left before giving me anything...no big.

Last one got my goat...I ran/fought a guy thru the entire Cities of Ascalon quest with the promise he was going to give me the Cesta. Lo and behold...I get to last monument, he leaves party, and i am promptly ignored by the guy I helped for 30 minutes or so.

People like this make me not want to help new players anymore...

If it's any consolation, you can have the -50 icon I have sitting in my stash.

If you're doing something for tips, I wouldn't expect everyone to give something. Afterall, you didn't set any price so don't expect anything in return for your generosity.

Could it be that this happens so often because the kind of people that would rather have a mission or quest run for them instead of taking the time and trouble to battle it out are just the kind of people that would stoop so low?

Perhaps a solution could be to stop running players?

When you say running for tips, that generally means payment is optional. I have met a few runners who thinks it means pay me, but choose how much you want to pay.

As MOST people seem to think of tips as an optional payment, then you may want to specify if you are running for money, but the sum is of their own choice.

I've had nothing but good experiences with running for tips. Payment is optional so there is no worry on either side that someone might try to scam. My running groups tend to fill up more quickly. Some people even pay more than what I would have asked for if I was running for payment.

What's happening here is rather obvious; people see "tips" as meaning "pay me something IF you want to" i.e. optional. Either they don't have much money to give, or they're greedy cheapskates, that's the breaks.

The guy who promised the cesta, however, did scam you (different deal there from "tips")

Personally I consider a tip in GW to be 100 gold. If you want more than that for your services, don't call it a tip.

Tip I think is optional payment... though one time when running ppl through desert a guy left my party at town and said, "I found a free run nvm" O.o

Thanks for the comments guys, and while I appreciate the offer for the Cesta I already have one in storage. I was hoping to nab another one in case a guildie wanted one...ah well.

I dont really ever expect a huge payment for running someone when I make the offer for tips. Was just a bad night last night.

On top of the guy who cammed me outta the Cesta (he told me was a new player and was not wearing a Guild tag), I had a guy swearing at me becasue he did not like a price I gave I offered him on an item.

What bothers me more than anything is the lack of a good old-fashioned 'THANK YOU'. I can overlook a lot of shortcomings if people are just civil to me.
